this is a great website daily kos it is great!!!!!!!!!!

This is all great info. Keep posting cause I am reading intently. If ONLY the poor misled could look out of the box and grasp a straw of the truth.

thank you, this is a great site my husband told me about this morning daily kos

Thanks for all the information, it's important that people know the truth. I was so shocked by the hostility directed towards me, but what was really shocking was that person either didn't read what I posted, or didn't understand what I was writing. My main point being the man has been in office 45 days, it may take some time for his policies to have any effect. My point about Regan was that it took 2 years for his policies to have an effect.

Welcome to the lounge Robotart

I agree 45 days and already people arent giving him a chance to make a difference. He was working hard to do that by making decisions he did and starting his job before Jan 20th. Bush would have been on vacation before, during and after the inauguration.

Thanks! The man inherited 1.3 trillion dollars of debt, the largest debt in the history of the country.

The National Debt is $10.9 Trillion. It has been actively rising since the mid 70's. It took a sharp increase in 1993 and has been increasing at that rate since! On average, the debt always rises.

Sorry, I wasn't speaking about the National Debt, specifically it was that the annual change in debt surpassed $1 trillion for the first time in 2008.

Here's an interesting article about it:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_public_debt

Public debt is the amount owed by the government to its creditors, whether they are nationals or foreigners. External debt is the debt of all sectors of the economy (public and private), owed to foreigners. In the U.S., foreign ownership of the public debt is a significant part of the nation's external debt. The Bureau of the Public Debt, a division of the Department of the Treasury, calculates the amount of money owed by the national government on a daily basis.[7]

[8][9][10]

The total debt has increased over $500 billion each year since FY 2003, considering both budgeted and non-budgeted spending.[11] The annual US budget deficit declined from $318 billion in 2005 to $162 billion in 2007,[12] but increased to $455 billion in 2008.[13]Since FY 2002, the deficit reported by the media has been significantly less than the annual change in the debt. The annual change in debt surpassed $1 trillion for the first time in FY 2008

this is in response to the mis information about nancy pelosi

Credit ABC's Jonathan Karl and Luis Martinez for taking the time to actually look into the details surrounding Judicial Watch's comical claims this week about Nancy Pelosi's air travel; claims the Noise Machine mindlessly repeated.

The ABC duo concludes [emphasis added]:

The treasure trove of documents obtained by Judicial Watch from the Department of Defense regarding Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's use of military aircraft doesn't seem to prove the organization's allegation that Pelosi has made "unprecedented demands" for the flights. In fact, it appears that Pelosi uses military aircraft less often than her predecessor, former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert.

ABC found that virtually none of the Judicial Watch claims stand up to the slightest bit of scrutiny. Oh, don't act surprised.

wishful thinking..did obama snub the british prime minister?

READOUT ON THE PRESIDENT’S CALL TO PRIME MINISTER GORDON BROWN OF ENGLAND

The president called Prime Minster Brown today at approximately 3 p.m. In a call that lasted about 10 minutes, the president congratulated the prime minister on his speech to Congress and expressed his appreciation for a very productive visit.

The president also thanked the prime minister for the gifts he presented to him: a pen holder carved from the timbers of the HMS Gannet, which was a sister ship of the HMS Resolute, and first edition biography of Winston Churchill. The president noted that the pen set is being displayed on the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office and the books are in the president’s personal study adjoining the Oval Office.

The president and the prime minister discussed that the first lady and Mrs. Brown had a warm and personal visit, as well. The president closed the conversation by stating that he looked forward to seeing the prime minister in London in early April.

So everything's fine here. Move along.

Yes Cats I am with you. The debt has not always been rising. In fact President Clinton presided over the longest period of peace-time economic expansion in American history, which included a balanced budget and a reported federal surplus. At the end of his presidency Clinton reported a surplus of $559 billion. And then.........came Bush and we all see where we are now!!!!!

I know! Now tell me that if some 20 year old woman had got on her knees in front of Bush he would have said no. Not likely. He was never presented an opportunity. Thank God there was no woman that desperate in his administration. YUCK!

On Friday an American citizen was shot in the head by the Israeli millitary while videotaping a demonstration. He was some distance away from the demonstration when the Israli forces deliberately shot him with a tear gas cannister that travels 500 meters within seconds directly in the right side of his skull from 200 feet away, all of this was caught on video. If this happened in any other country the US would have filed a protest by now, but being this was the actions of Israel I'm sure many of you have not even heard about it.
Here's the majority of an e-mail I received from United For Peace And Justice:

On March 13, 2009, Tristan Anderson, a U.S. citizen from Oakland, CA, was critically
injured when he was shot in the head by a high-velocity tear gas canister fired by
the Israeli army.

Tristan was shot while photographing a weekly demonstration against the building of
the Apartheid Wall in the West Bank village of Ni'lin. The Wall, which was declared
to be illegal by the International Court of Justice in 2004, cuts off Ni'lin from
much of its agricultural lands. Since 2008, Israel has killed four unarmed
Palestinians during these weekly protests: Yousef Amira (17), Ahmed Mousa (10),
Arafat Rateb Khawaje (22), and Mohammed Khawaje (20).

This incident comes almost exactly six years after the death of U.S. peaceactivist
Rachel Corrie. Rachel was killed by the Israeli military with a Caterpillar
bulldozer as she was nonviolently trying to protect a Palestinian home from being
destroyed on March 16, 2003.

Tristan's family has released a statement informing supporters that Tristan's
condition has stabilized and that he has been moved from emergency care to
specialized neurological intensive care unit in the Tel Hashomer hospital outside of
Tel Aviv. The family is "deeply hopeful that Tristan will recover" and is "looking
forward to when he is stable enough that he can return home to the care and comfort
of his family and community."

"In the meantime, we are deeply appreciative of the excellent care he's receiving,
the amazing support that Gaby [his girlfriend] and his friends are providing, and
the thoughts and prayers of those around the world who are holding him in their
hearts and minds. It matters tremendously as we all hold faith for Tristan to
recover and return home. Again, we are so very grateful for the outpouring of love
and support for Tristan and our family."
Cindy and Craig Corrie, the parents of Rachel Corrie, have released a statement on
the 6th anniversary of their daughter's death: "On this anniversary, Rachel would
want us all to hold Tristan Anderson and his family and these Palestinians [killed
in Ni'lin] and their families in our thoughts and prayers, and we ask everyone to do
so?.[The] attacks on all the people of Gaza and the recent one on Tristan Anderson
in Ni'lin cry out for investigation and accountability."
