Oh, Eppy, I have nothing to say because there is so little to say at a time like this. I know well your pain. How old was he? |

Quote lynnw: Quote Eppy: Thanks cats for bringing this up today. I needed it. As you can see by the time I'm posting, I cannot sleep. I lost my beloved Corgy, Murphy a few hours ago and my heart is breaking. He went down suddenly and I rushed him to the 24 hour Vet ER. Following xrays, tests, etc. they found a large, fast growing and bleeding mass in his spleen - and quite certainly inoperable. His last physical a few months ago was excellent so I was caught by surprise and he showed no signs that I can think of other than becoming more clingy than usual...perhaps he was trying to tell me something. I've hardly had time to wrap my mind around it. I stayed with him for his journey to the Rainbow Bridge. I'm so grateful I had him in my life but the sadness is very difficult. Oh Eppy, I'm so very sorry. My heart is breaking for you. I've lost so many (too many) pets and can feel your pain. You'll be in many prayers today from your friends on this thread. I really admire you for staying with your pet till the end. I just couldn't do it. Take care. Thank you dear for your sweet words and concern. As you know, no matter how much love you can give them, that just can't prolong their life on this earth. Patsy |

I think you know I had 12 cats, all that I rescued from Hurricane Andrew many years ago. They were (and are) all over 12 years old. I have lost two in the last 9 month and have another one who probably will not make it through this month (he is 18) And, I know what you mean about being clingy - - they always seem to do that and Randy is now sleeping almost on top of my head at night and is like superglue. It is so painful, especially when they have lived so many years with you. It hurts like HELL! Are you okay today? Do have any other dogs now? Please let us know how you are feeling today. Debbie Hi Debbie - thank you so much for caring. Especially for all the care you have given your little loved ones over the years. It takes a special person to take on the responsibility for the homeless and needy. Give Randy a special scratch behind the ears for me. I'm doing okay but I do have moments. Thanks again, dear! |

Oh my the 'Pets 10 Commandments' has me in tears over here. I remember losing one of our family pets Isis May 2008, she was a maltese and Gommie posted a beautiful poem in the Chit Chat thread on the Y&R board, which made me feel better, I will never forget it nor this. Thanks reminders like this helps get me through those tough times. I still think about her and miss her everyday and appreciate our other two dogs even more now. |

You are very welcome. By the way, believe it or not, with all the old kitties I have, I do have one little forgotten friend, my Bijon Frise, McDuff, who will be 11 years old in December. He, too, is getting up in age, but still quite playful, even with a little arthritis. He is the only one in my family who is not a mutt, including me. Do you have any other dogs, Eppy? |

puddy, how did you go about rescuing all those kitty cats? |
Eppy![]() |
No puddy, I don't have any other pets now. I do occasional dogging sitting in my home and have a few favored little clients whom I very fond of. They all loved coming here to play with Murphy - he was so gentle and protective of each and every one of them...my baby sitter in waiting. One client came today for a visit and went looking for him and was quite disappointed. |

Okay - - too soon to talk about it, I know, but maybe you will consider saving another pup that needs a home in the future. I know I am nosey, but how old was Murphy? I just have been thinking about you all day - - and feel so bad - - maybe because I know I am so close to losing another one of my babies. I know I will be back on this thread in less than a month for support, for my Randy. My God - - the pleasure they bring to us - - God should have given them longer lives!!!! I have told "Him" that many times!!! |

Quote cats meow: puddy, how did you go about rescuing all those kitty cats? BIL rescued one dog, from mexico, was running in a pack, SPCA went in and brought a bunch of dogs back, training ricco was quite the challenge, don't know if i could have done it, but they committed to it, their kids, who were little, now he is a marshmellow It was horrible, cats - - after Hurricane Andrew - - it really devastated half of Miami. I was in my condo all night in the hall, with my dog, Zucchini (who passed 5 years ago at the age of 17 1/2), and the cats I had put in the back bedroom. Lost the whole front half of my condo and was lucky to be alive - - cats in back bedroom survived with a few scratches from trying to get out of the bedroom. After the storm - - and for almost two years after - - there were soooooo many animals lost. Two of them that I found and took in had collars, but no names - - one of them, who I lost 6 months ago, Pub, was in front of a Publix store and was skin and bones. He kept walking into the store's door when someone would go in and it opened automically, and they kept putting him back out. Everyone thought he had the mange or something because he had no hair. One FAT kid kicked him. Someone also put out a can of vienna sausages for him and another kid kicked it away - - I almost killed me a few kids that night - - but ended up throwing him on my shoulder (he could have clawed me to death, but didn't, just put his skinny little arms around my neck) and taking him home - -to a small, crappy apartment that I was renting until my condo was rebuilt. Anyway - - I named him Pub because of Publix. He turned out to be the most affectionate cat I have ever owned and it has not been a year and I still hurt for him. He would put his arms around your neck and lick you to death! I have pictures of that, with some of my friends, who loved it, but have not been able to bring myself to look at them yet. People have told me that it was because he remembered the night I threw him on my shoulder and he put his arms around me) Randy, was a baby kitten right after the hurricane - - all wet and skinny - - he is my oldest and the one is is about to leave me now. The others - - I mostly found after they started rebuilding where I lived. Three of them had already been "fixed" - - so I knew they had homes before - - and Pubby was one of those. RATS - - I am rambling and tears starting, which I usually don't do - - I try to block it out. So, will head to bed now, with my little old Randy, like superglue, sleeping on my head. Goodnight! I am not editing this for spelling or grammar - - so the hell with it!! P.S. Edit: I did edit to add some thing. One of the hardest part of having these precious little babies live so long is what happens in old age. Randy has been deaf now for about 2 months - - I know it is confusing him, but I put my mouth to his ears and say his name loud, hoping he can feel the vibes. I have one called Caboose, who is 11 and became blind two years ago - - he was a feral and never very affectionate and would hide under the couch. When he went blind, he did a complete turn around. Loves me to death now, loves to feel me near him and has learned to navigate EVERYWHERE in the house. But, sometimes I sit and look at him and think - - God, what a feeling not to be able to see again at such a late age. But - - he can be funny getting up to exactly where he wants to be - - on the bed or sofa - - next to me. So I say, Debbie, after three glasses of vino tonight - - and thinking about people losing their beloved babies - - SHUT UP! Goodnight again! |

Puddy, to answer your question, Murphy was twelve years old. Corgy's lifespan is around 12-15 and then things wear down on the little guys. Murphy was somewhat bigger in stature than the standard Pembrook. I got him when he was three. He was a former Movie dog, and when another dog attacked him and cut his nose, that put an end to his career and his trainers released him for adoption. That's how I got him. I do know that he was worked pretty hard because he was usually the 'stunt' dog who did the heavy-duty scenes. He was extremely good natured, friendly and sweet and believe it or not, very perceptive of the people around him. |
