Quote Eppy: I thought this was a very nice reminder:

Remember that they can't do a lot of things for themselves and that they depend on you to make their life a quality life!

A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS.........

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.

9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.

10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

~Take a moment today to thank God for your pets. Enjoy and take good care of them.

Life would be a much duller, less joyful experience without God's critters

this just makes me cry...

Hi cats. She seems to feel ok just cuddled up under the blankies sleeping. Her temp was 1.31 the first time I checked yesterday but then went to 101.9 which was good. This morning it is 102. I think he will probably change to the other antibiotics tomorrow. It has been 5 days on these and it should have cleared everything up by now. She eats the canned food great so she does still have an appetite for that.

Keep us posted- her temp seems to be within normal range now- is she anymore peppy today?

Her temp is now 101.9. She is hanging in the bed still but when I made her go out I caught her running around out there and barking. I wonder if she might be milking this a little bit. She is a sneaky little thing at times. The vet will call in the morning and I will see what he thinks then. I am betting he will want to see her.

She don't know that I caught her out there. I just peeked out the window. The minute she comes back in the house she runs to the bed as fast as her feet will carry her and burrows down. I think a lot of that is her hiding so mommy can't stuff a pill down her throat or a thermometer up her butt. She doen't appreciate that stuff AT ALL!!!

COLD morning everyone. Ivy's temp is 101.2 which is ok per the doc. Vet said just to come pick up some more canned food to last through Christmas and finsish off her antibiotics with. It is 10 degrees and she and her brother are outside sniffing around and playing. Woops...I here them knocking on the door. I guess 10 minutes is enough for them. I better go let em in.

Sounds like your little baby may be on the mend. Let's hope....just like people when they get down with a virus or infection, they lose their appetite, have no energy and just want to lay around. Antibiotics can also make them sick to the stomach and hence maybe the urping episodes. Keep us posted!

Ivy has been playing and bugging us constantly wanting to be petted. (we love it) She has also done a super job indulging in her favorite passtime...aggrevating the crap out of her brother!

Thanks cats for bringing this up today. I needed it. As you can see by the time I'm posting, I cannot sleep. I lost my beloved Corgy, Murphy a few hours ago and my heart is breaking. He went down suddenly and I rushed him to the 24 hour Vet ER. Following xrays, tests, etc. they found a large, fast growing and bleeding mass in his spleen - and quite certainly inoperable. His last physical a few months ago was excellent so I was caught by surprise and he showed no signs that I can think of other than becoming more clingy than usual...perhaps he was trying to tell me something. I've hardly had time to wrap my mind around it. I stayed with him for his journey to the Rainbow Bridge. I'm so grateful I had him in my life but the sadness is very difficult.

Oh Eppy, I'm so very sorry. My heart is breaking for you. I've lost so many (too many) pets and can feel your pain. You'll be in many prayers today from your friends on this thread. I really admire you for staying with your pet till the end. I just couldn't do it. Take care.
