Does anyone use one of those cast iron grill pans like the cooking shows sometimes use? Looks like a skillet but has raised sections and leaves grill marks?
If so, was it a good investment?

What kind? Like the foreman grills?? Probably not but if that is what you mean I know a lot of people like them but I hate mine. I nver use it, I think the food tastes like garbage.


Tonight its poormans again... too cold to get pizza and I forgot to take any thing out

Amaretto Brownies with Almonds

Brownie:
1 package fudge brownie mix
1/2 cup oil
1/3 cup water
2 tbsp Amaretto
1 large egg
3/4 cup almonds, chopped

Filling:
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup powdered sugar
6 ounces chocolate chips, melted
2 tbsp Amaretto

Topping:
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup whipping cream
1/2 cup sliced almonds, toasted

Heat oven to 350�.
Combine brownie ingredient and beat 50 strokes by hand. Spread batter in greased a 13x9 inch pan. Bake for 26 to 33 minutes or until set. Do not overbake. Cool completely.
Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Add melted chocolate chips and amaretto, beat until well blended. Spread filling mixture over top of cooled brownies. Refrigerate at least one hour or until firm.
Melt 1/2 cup chocolate chips with whipping cream over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Carefully spread evenly over chilled filling, sprinkle with sliced almonds. Refrigerate at least 1 hour or until set. Cut into bars. Store in refrigerator.
Makes 50 bars.

No, these are cast iron that go on top of the stove.

I bet you are right. I would rather just make all my stuff at home anyway, at least sea food wise. And it is really good. One of our friends was stationed in Iraq and one day they got lobster and/ or rock lobster and the guys were freaking out how good it was and our friend was like ... this is terrible. You should have our "real" lobster. But they were happy anyway so that is what matters. Cuz they deserve it

Flank steak with Red wine

2lbs Flank steak
1 cup dry red wine
1/2 cup chopped onions
3 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp ground ginger
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
1/8 tsp garlic, minced
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper

The night before or early that morning
In a small mixing bowl, whisk the red wine, onions, olive oil, ginger, vinegar, garlic, salt and pepper. Set steaks in a glass bowl and pour ingredients over steaks.
Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.
Prepare grill to Medium heat.
Remove steaks from marinade. Do not use the marinade and throw away. Position steaks on oiled grill. Grill for 15 minutes. Turn steaks after 8 minutes. To check if done, cut the center with a sharp knife.
To serve, cut flank steak in thin slices across the grain.
Makes 4 servings
