I'm still up in the air about dessert.

Tammer,what is Shepherds pie?

Lean ground beef fried, then I add a can of manwich sauce and frozen mixed veg. The I top it with garlic mashed potatoes, grated cheddar cheese and bread crumbs. Dot with butter and bake to golden and bubbly..its fantastic!

Ok,thanks.I have never heard of it,so i was just wondering.

And I think it is shepherds pie because in England or Ireland it was originally made with lamb.

You know I have never heard of this til a couple weeks ago, but made with beef they would call it cottage pie. But your right I think with lamb its probably called shepards pie starting there. Everyone that isn't french laughs at me when I call it chinese pie... I wonder where that came from??

Sandra, the shepards pie question.. I call mine Chinese Pie but I heard its a french thing... so it might be different. But I make it and its burger sauted with onions, cream corn, peas, and mashed potatoes.

It's more a British thing, but it's made many different ways. Some only use corn with the mince and potatoes.
I like to try variations..this one I did today is kinda Mexicana..it's really yummy!

Ya I think everyone makes it differnt. I was watching Martha Stewart (my idol ) and she made it with chunks of beef/steak and said most make it with left overs. I never stray... but I should, spice it up a bit.

The original shepherds pie is made with lamb and originated
in England.

Yes you're right, they use lamb mince, onions, carrots, broth and tomato paste. It's a little more basic than mine. I have never had lamb.

I don't do lamb either used to eat it when i was a kid because you were lucky if you got meat at all, it isn't bad as long as you eat it while it's hot but after it gets cold it is sticky and not so good.

I just can't get butter/pecan ice cream off my mind today!!!
Damn, now I'm going to have to leave the house and go get me some. If I don't make a pig of myself on ice cream, I'll probably have pulled, bar-b-q pork sandwiches and cole slaw.

Well, since my mom won't be getting home til later tonight and neither will my dad I'm just going to make Hamburger Helper.I don't really feel like cooking a big meal.I cook all the time now that my mom got a full time job.It isn't a problem though since I love to cook.I want to be a dietition when I graduate high school and go to college.
