I have a question - maybe someone knows more about this than I. Obama wants to nominate a woman or minority to the Supreme Court to "better represent the people."

Question: "Representation of the people" is not the purpose (nor should it be in their mind at all) of the S.C. It is representation of the law!

Am I right? Why does race continually be brought into the equation? How about we hire the most legal savvy person there is, and choose them blindfolded?

My point: Obama is considering a person who has publicly voiced their concerns about doing all they can to help the poor people (this is just one example). Now, while I fully agree the poor need help, isn't that a predisposed bias that Obama has pushed under the rug?...that rug must be magic, it is hiding so many things...

Great post. S.C. justices are to interpret the Constitution and also interpret existing laws. They are not political activists nor should they be. Typically conservative justices are deemed those who strictly interpret the Constitution; liberal justices are those who see it as a 'living document' & other nonsense, basically giving themselves a pass to insert any idea or 'right' into the Constitution when a first year law student can read it & know what it says, & what it doesn't say.

Sadly, Obama is on record expressing his disdain for the Constitution. Before his election to the Senate (U.S. that is) he gave an interview in which he explains that a flaw in the Constitution is that our founders didn't address the redistribution of wealth (silly Barack...that is b/c our founders knew it is a terrible idea!).

Thus, he is likely to look for a justice who, rather than interpret the Constitution, seeks to slay it & insert 'new' meaning where he or she feels the founders erred.

If you ever have the chance, read some of the opinions written by Justice Scalia. The best thing Reagan did was seat Scalia on the bench (well...one of the best things). Scalia's grasp on legal matters & the role of a S.C. justice is impressive. The man is a genius & his writing is enjoyable (to me at least) even though the subject matter is sometimes dry.

And another thing...liberals claim to care about race & the representation of minorites on the S.C. What really blows that out of the water is their treatment of Clarence Thomas, currently the only black member of the court, who they treat like scum b/c he is conservative. I was young when he was finally confirmed to the court, but have watched the hearings more than once, which were adequately described as a high-tech lynching. Were he not conservative, Jesse & Al would have taken to the streets. However, while they claim race matters, political ideology matters more.

Thomas is a genius...he ties with Scalia for my favorite justice. However, he's a conservative, which negates for liberals the fact that he is black.

Thanks for confirming! I was sure i had the facts right, but if no one in the media will point things like this out (suprise) I guess it just goes under the magic rug. Oh well. And I think I will look up Thomas. I have heard of his treatment, but never actually read any of his interpretations (of the law, not his politics)

the research she sent us are amazing,I always believe in natural cure,never Drugs,think about it these drug companies got hundreds of millions for research but they will 'never' really find cure for anything without side effects.
its our secret what we have and found,let the fools be fooled,one common sense if everybody healthy then these companies will go bancrupt
another thing I dont believe for one concecutive second for that stem cell research too,same ole same ole ! its all about money ,no more no less.

Executive Order 13489. Obama bans access to his records the first day in office with this executive order

From the Executive Order text:

Upon receipt of a notice of intent to disclose Presidential records, the Attorney General (directly or through the Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Counsel) and the Counsel to the President shall review as they deem appropriate the records covered by the notice and consult with each other, the Archivist, and such other executive agencies as they deem appropriate concerning whether invocation of executive privilege is justified.

(b) The Attorney General and the Counsel to the President, in the exercise

of their discretion and after appropriate review and consultation under subsection

(a) of this section, may jointly determine that invocation of executive

privilege is not justified. The Archivist shall be notified promptly of any

such determination.
What this says, is that only the Attorney General and Council to the President, are able to review records' requests and determine if they can be made public or not (what they deem appropriate).

Did you know Eric Holder is a personal close-friend of Obama's? Eric Holder was even on his campaign when usurping for Presidency. Eric has stated himself that he shares Obama's same views on the "World" and "Race".

In effect, what this order does is over-turn the previous executive order by Bush, that Presidential records can be made publicly availabe through the Freedom of Information Act.

I decide to invest in Europe after all,have one house in this country is more than enough for me,looking at the current situation with the stimulus packages and trillions $ nation debt,I doubt the economy will recover any time soon,in the long run EU will have stronger economy IMO also some of my buddies at London said buying property is good opportunity while Pounds is declining.
I have no confident in our Gov. so far,the spending are outrageous,all of this will goes back to Tax Payers,well only people who pay taxes,since many out there dont pay.
Iam beyond tired with this political clown in washington.

Lawmaker aims at making Texas firearms exempt from Federal regulation,just like Montana whom just past last month,I always love Texas and Montana,brave people who stand up for their rights, I read while back Texas raise rural speed limits to 80/mph,Montana use not to have speed limit back then 'reasonable and prudent' this kind of states I would love to live,I dont believe divide we fail anymore,to me divided with people who has different ideology and weak are much better,its going to be that way,iam watching Glen Beck right now and its interesting as usual.
