This is a link to an article Newsweek is displaying on their site that discusses some of the things being said about Palin, such as her banning books at the Wasilla library or cutting funding for special needs education (both untrue). Newsweek appears to either be linking to a page from factcheck.org or have gotten their information, at least in part, from this site, which is a good site from what I know of it.

www.newsweek.com/id/157986

Editing to add: there is a list of books circulating the internet via email that Palin was said to have banned while mayor in Wasilla, & many of the books on the list had not been published when she served as Wasilla's mayor.

Also, McCain has opened up a 15 point lead over Obama among Independent voters. The polls change daily, but a 15 point lead is outside the margin of error.

A Wasilla resident called into Rush yesterday-she said reporters are all over town looking to interview citizens about Sarah--only they don't want to talk to the 85% who approve of her-they want the other 15 % who don't..SURPRISE SURPRISE!!

Question: How many community organizers does it take to screw in a light bulb? -

Answer: Nine. One to screw in the light bulb and eight to organize the busloads of protestors to the nuclear plant that powers it.

Quote alwaysEJ: Great idea Kathryn

The first thing I'd like to post here is that MSNBC has dropped Chris Matthews & Keith Olbermann as news anchors, finally realizing that these two men are not at all neutral in their election coverage. Chris Matthews, if you remember, is the man who said Obama sent a "tingle up his leg."

Maybe someone at MSNBC has begun to realize why they are last in the cable news ratings.

Actually when Olbermann and Matthews were given the election coverage NBC felt that the viewers would overlook their viewpoints on their normal shows and not hold that against them while reviewing the election coverage. Olbermann did get a bit nasty after hearing the decision, but thems the breaks. Matthews took it in stride. They both knew it was temporary.

Well at least now Matthews can fully indulge himself & enjoy the tingle going up his leg. And there is a small chance MSNBC can get their ratings out of the toilet

Editing to say: MSNBC was wrong to think these men could keep their views out of their coverage. Can you imagine the liberal outcry if FoxNews gave Sean Hannity election coverage? Of course, people actually watch FoxNews, so I guess in that regard it would be a big deal.

Remember Palin's line from her speech last week about the difference in a hockey mom & a pitbull being...lipstick?

Today in Lebanon, VA, Obama told a crowd:

"You can put lipstick on a pig...It's still a pig"

Granted this is an old saying & I will give him the benefit of the doubt that he was not intending to direct this at her & her joke from her speech, but whoa he needs to watch it...he is not at his best when he's off the teleprompter.

Since rei1 felt it was okay to express her thoughts in the Democrat no-bash thread, and the administration saw no reason to edit his/her comments I thought I would add a few of mine to this thread. No one is able o prove that the US Weekly article is false, and I for the moment believe it to be true. And it has to do with Palin's record. She is someone who believes that she can distort fact, like the bridge to no where. She supported it, said she didn't want to stand in the way of progress. She saaid this in the debate for Governer that was shown on C-Span over the weekend. Now she states she was always against it. Said she put the Governers jet on e-bay, not true, but what is true is that she and her family stuck it to the Alaska tax payers about 53,000 annually to pay for their personal expenses.
Another thing is she is someone who loves to abuse her power, the firing of the police cheif because he wouldn't go along with her personal vendetta against her ex-brother-in-law. The "inquiry" into how she could go about banning books, and then her firing of the librian when she wouldn't agree to ban books. Finally, she is someone who believes in "magic". She believes that a man up in the clouds wanted the US to invade Iraq, and that he also wanted an oil pipeline in Alaska. And that if you talk long enough to him he can make gay people straight.
So I totally see how she could think she could trick people into beleiving that her drunken promiscious teenage daughter's child was hers. She thinks she can get away with anything.
Once again I would like to thank rei1 for this opportunity to express my thoughts!

Whatever you think rei1 did, tell the mods about it...all of these threads will end up closed & you won't be able to bash Palin at all if we keep going back & forth.

He tazzed a kid billie, would you have fired him too?
I am going to stay out of these threads I think. As I have said, I have still not made up my mind about my vote. I find the Democratic thread to be nothing but a bash thread, no real discussion at all. They jump on any article about the candidates without checking accuracy first. Maybe we need an undecided thread where we can actually discuss issues!

You are right; the officer she wanted fired tasered a ten year old boy.

South Carolina Dem chair: Palin's primary qualification is she hasn't had an abortion...if I'd known this was a qualification to serve as Vice President, I should've thrown my hat in the ring

Aww that makes my day . I am too young at the moment. Well actually I think you have to be 35 to run for President...not sure if there is an age restriction to be VP.
