For anyone interested in a view of the Afghan war from someone who was there, I recommend Marcus Luttrell's book, "Lone Survivor". Warning--it is a heartbreaker, as well as raising your hackles. It tells what happened to his team of Navy Seals in Afghanistan. He also has some very strong views about the way the war was being fought at the time, as well as comments about the media and the harm they are doing. Such a waste of some of America's best. What scares me is that men such as these are a finite resource, not an infinite one. |
