So check this out.... |

I imagine it will be much worse in Illinois. Chicago has s huge problem with political corruption! |

Hello Plot...ya know i never listen to all the bs mud slinging rumors either party says about the opponent. But i really really respect those who dont stoop to those tactics. I look at the negitive talk as an embarrassement to that party. Actions speak louder. |

I admit that Kwame is an idiot. He was lucky to get the deal of 120 days to serve, he could have gotten up to 5 years....plus, in 5 years he can run for office again |

I agree, Kwame is an idiot. |

Quote alwaysEJ: I agree, Kwame is an idiot. I also think it is a waste tying Obama to him when there are even bigger idiots who Obama has spent a great deal of time with - Jeremiah Wright & William Ayers for starters. DITTO.........DITTO.......... |

Same old republican smear tactics. And the pastor thing is stupid too. Give it a rest. No one goes to every single service and function that their pastor speaks at. |
Touched![]() |
I'm sorry, but I can't fault Obama for Pastor Wright's right to Freedom of Speech! True, he could get up and leave during the service, but how many us have done that when a pastor says something that is condescending or we are in total disagreement with. |

I think the reason Obama attended Wright's church is b/c it was a crucial step in climbing to the top in Chicago politics, which are notoriously corrupt. I have no idea the extent to which he agrees w/Wright, but I would not have exposed my children to that man for 5 minutes, no matter what it meant for my political career. |

Perhaps, EJ. Most people go to church for reasons other than churchy reasons...some go for fellowship, others for friends, others to meet people to date, others becuase that place is convenient and they are "supposed" to go. I don't care why he went. Don't hold any reason for or against him. Religion doesn't matter to me in a candidate. |

First EJ I'm surprised that you quoted the NY Times, since you have previously stated that it was a paper of liberal lies. William Ayers gave that interview to the NY Times in 2001, and he called it a "deliberate distortion" not because he was misquoated or taken out of context, but because he was not talking about the Weathermen or the bombings, but the anti-Vietnam War effort to stop the war. Ayers was a member of the Weatherman, and did take part in two illeagal events, in 1969 the bombing of a statue dedicated to police casualties in the 1886 Haymarket Riot in Chicago. The bomb broke 100 windows, but there were no human casualties. I am not saying that this was okay, clearly a stupid illegal act that deserves punishment, but only stating the ACTUAL facts. He was also involved in a riot in Chicago in 1969. That is the extent of illegal activities he was involved in with the Weathermen. His connection with Obama? From 1999-2002 they both served on the board of directors for the Wood's Fund of Chicago, an anti-poverty philanthrophic foundation founded in 1941. In 1995 Ayers held the first fund raiser for Obama when he was running for State Senate in Chicago. In 2001 he donated $200 to Obama's campaign. That is the COMPLETE connection between the two. So do we want to talk about McCain's contributors? Or Sarah Pallin's connections with Ted Stevens? |

You're right, many people have random motives for attending church that have zero to do w/religion. I would say this is true of all politicians, no matter their party. Certainly of course there are some truly religious politicians in both parties. Honestly, religion doesn't matter to me either usually. I like Mitt Romney & I totally disagree w/the Mormon Church. When JFK ran in 1960, there were attempts to sway voters based on him being Catholic, as if the Vatican would be running America. Being Catholic implies nothing about your politics really, considering that John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Ann Coulter, Clarence Thomas, & Pat Buchanan are all Catholic - & these 5 certainly see the world differently. |

Quote Plot-Twister: That is it???? Weak, very weak. You bring up Palin again Margo, I gotta tell ya, you know those sites that count the lies that were told in the speeches? Well, they came up with Palin lying about putting the jet up on ebay. Well, turns out she did put it up on ebay, but it didn't sell, so they sold it to a private buyer. I don't think that is a big whopp de do either. What is this you speak of with Ted Stevens and Palin? Ted Stevens is the Republican Senator from Alaska. He is also the longest serving Republican in the Senate, beginning in 1968. On July 29, 2008 Stevens was indicted by a federal grand jury on seven counts of failing to report gifts of over $250,000 recieved from VECO Corporation, and its CEO Bill Allen. VECO also remodeled Stevens home with $441,000 of renovations. He is specifically charged with violating provisions of the Ethics in Government Act; i.e. corruption. VECO Corporation was an Alaska-based oil pipeline service and construction company. It was recently purchased by CH2M HILL. VECO was also a major player in the worldwide oli market. From 2003-2005 Palin ran a 527 group for Stevens called, Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service, INC. She raised unlimited corporate funds for Stevens. Most political donations have a cap on the amount a single donor can donate, but a candidate can raise unlimited funds through a 527. |

As far as Ted Stevens, he is a R Senator from Alaska but his relationship w/Palin is not buddy buddy I don't think. Palin defeated Steven's close friend Murkowski in the primary before becoming governor & Stevens only endorsed her three weeks before the general election. |
