John Edwards........

I have been watching CNN and it seems now that John Edwards had an extra-marital affair in 2006. I really thought he was one of the good guys, but now once again I am dis-illusioned by a politician. Supposedly he fessed up to his wife and family, but now with her cancer back she has to relive the whole thing. So sad.

I must say that I am not surprised by this news. He has always came across as a slimy politician to me. He was always giving speeches about family values and such as the center of his campaign and all the while he is having an affair while his wife is fighting for her life with breast cancer. He says he is ashamed of what he did and that the affair has long been over. Yea Right. He is ashamed of getting caught. As for the affair being long over then why was he caught at the hotel a couple of weeks ago with the mistress holding the baby "that isn't his"?I really do feel sorry for the wife and the 3 children.

I guess to me, he just seemed a little less slimey than the rest, LOL! Your right though, my heart goes out to his wife, this kind of stress is the absolute last thing she needs.

Hi, everyone! I'm sad to see that another politician has fallen into the trap of temptation... I was considering voting for JE before he dropped out. Now, by his admission, there is some dissapointment in him. I feel sad for his wife and family--his wife is fighting terminal cancer...it was stated that she has forgiven him...she is a strong, inspiring woman, and as for JE he has lost my confidience.

I have seen the videos of J.E. denying the affair, I guess I was foolish enough to believe him, especially since it was the National Enq. that had the story. Plus I really thought he had a solid marraige. I must have missed it, when you posted about this. The whole tawdry thing just makes me ill.

I'm not saying that having an affair is right, I totally disagree with it...but it happens everyday, so why is it when it's a politician that is involved it's a big deal? I mean look at the turmoil Bush and his father caused for our country, and Clinton gets a B.J from someone other than his wife and he's a horrilbe person? Men will be men, politics or not, so who the heck cares if they are having an affair????

However, I do feel sorry for his wife...

John McCain's wife forgave him for his affairs, so why not Mrs. Edwards?

I have never liked John Edwards b/c he made his millions taking money from OBGYNs. If you ever wonder why health care is as expensive as it is, one of the reasons is the malpractice insurance premiums many doctors pay simply to be able to continue praticing medicine. I live in Louisiana, & most OBGYNs pay about $100,000 a year in insurance premiums b/c they are sued so often by scum like John Edwards. Giving birth is always risky, & sometimes doctors do make mistakes, but good doctors are retiring early or practicing other types of medicine b/c trial lawyers prey on OBGYNs.

With that said, I am not at all surprised that he had an affair while his wife is battling breast cancer. Any man who makes his living by taking money from the best & brightest of our society is scum, IMO, just as any man, politician or otherwise, who cheats on his wife (& lies about it over & over again) is also scum. Republican, Democrat, or in betweeen, I don't vote for men who cheat. If they can't tell their wives the truth, I don't trust anything they say & they don't deserve my vote.

I do not agree with everything George W. Bush has done, but I do think I, & the rest of the American people, deserve a President who is faithful to his wife. I know men cheat, & this includes politicians, but some men do not cheat, & if they happen to be running for public office, they get my vote over an adulterer any day of the week.

No I won't be voting for McCain for a plethora of reasons. I admire his service to his country, but he is too liberal for me on many issues & has stabbed his party in the back numerous times.

I suppose for the first time in my life I will vote third party, b/c I won't be casting a vote for Obama either. Both of these candidates are far more liberal than the individuals their parties have nominated in the recent past, & they are both far too liberal for me.

The thing that bothers me the most about all of this is that he states she was in remission while he had the affair. I mean I wonder if he fought off the temptation while she was actively receiving cancer treatment but once she was in remission he decided it was an okay time to have an affair. I mean what is wrong with these people? And how about that goofy statement he made? Was that too much information or what? It almost sounded to me like he was trying to receive sympathy. And I too, had heard rumblings of something going on for a couple of weeks but since the media never really jumped on it, I didn't give it too much thought until he finally decided to fess up.
