I think I will vote for Barack Obama, not because I'm Black, but because he is a great man and what he stands for is amazing.

There are some people in this country who might think,"Now we've let a Black President get in. Do we have to let in Hispanics, Jews, and Indians, too?" Now America is called the Great Melting Pot because people of all ethnicities, religions, and sexual orientation can come together and live in freedom and democracy.

And then the issue comes up about voting. Most people believe that Republicans are mostly richer White people and that Democrats are mostly the lower-class African American, Jews, and Hispanics. Some people think that people who don't want a Black President will do as much as switch over or register as a Republican and vote for McCain to cover them up. I know that it's possible, though, and I'm not denying this because who really know's what these people will do?

I've finished with the black issue. It's not an issue anymore, the man's clearly intelligent and capable. I'll vote for him because I'm a democrat. I didn't approve of Hillary but if she'd won the nom. I'd vote for her because I'm a democrat.

Yes i agree Briar Rose... There are more important issues at stake than race or Gender.... Im not really any party so to speak, i vote according to who i like... Simple as that... We have our local elections Tuesday... wish we didnt have to declare a party... cause there are people on there that i would vote for either party

The primary races are the only ones you have to vote your party on.

I am a registered Republican, trust me they aren't all rich!! I am a republican because 100 years ago when I registered my parents were Republican. I didn't know the difference in parties, still don't half the time. I vote mostly Democrat, I think, and should change my registration but never do. There are things I like and dislike about both of these men and plan to really look at them close before I vote.

McCain is far too liberal for me, but I do think he'll keep the country safer than Obama & properly fund our military. Aside from his overtly socialist views, Obama simply does not have the experience to lead this nation, IMO. I will have to close my eyes & turn my head to vote for McCain though...I hope he chooses a conservative VP b/c McCain is two shades away from being Democrat himself.

I hope that McCain winning the republican nomination is a wake-up call for Republicans, the party that twice nominated Ronald Reagan, an extreme conservative who won 2 landslide elections (& also won the Cold War). If Obama wins, my hope is that four years of him will be a wake-up call for the country in the same way four years of Jimmy Carter led to eight years of Reagan.

Much more I could say here, but my thoughts are that unless it is an issue of national defense, I think the federal government should stay out of it pretty much...tax everyone as little as possible, privatize social security, leave healthcare alone, etc. Anytime the feds get involved in anything, it gets worse, not better.

It's hard for me to think of McCain as a liberal but you are right. For a Republican he is. I am also concerned about Obama's experience, maybe he should have waited 4 more years.
Obama is making promises about Iraq. How can he make promises? We shouldn't be there but we are, we have helped mess up that country, how can we bail in a year? At least Georgie doesn't have to worry about it anymore, he'll just hand the problem to the next guy. What was George Bush thinking with Cheney anyway??

I like Dick Cheney (he is more conservative than Bush) but he was a bad choice for VP since he is too old to run for President himself. I agree that regardless of what you think about us going to Iraq, we are there & we can't pull out & let things fall to pieces. Our military losses would've been in vain if we do that, not to mention that America, & the rest of the world, cannot afford for Iraq to fall into the hands of radicals. This is what happened in Germany after WWI. Germany was devastated & this opened the door to Hitler's rise to power, which caused WWII. If we leave Iraq in a mess, we'll be back later.

I voted for Bush twice & I think he was a better president than Gore or Kerry would've been. His greatest accomplishment, IMO, was the two justices he nominated to the Supreme Court, John Roberts & Samuel Alito. They are both extremely conservative. I was highly disappointed that Bush supported the immigration reform (which failed in Congress thankfully) as it basically rewarded people who came here illegally. We need immigration reform, but if we reward those who come here illegally, we are only encouraging others to do the same. Never, never, never should illegal behavior be rewarded.

This is an unusual election, and it's not because Obama is black! It is because neither candidate even closely follows his party's beliefs. The top two political parties can best be described as "lame and more lame" as Bill Maher puts it. Both parties have been lost for quite sometime, but one is more lost than the other, because it cannot come up with a substantial plan or stand for the economy, without their pockets being directly affected. The political ranks are filled with greedy, obnoxious and pompous people who are way out of touch with their constituents. This might surprise you, but neither candidate for the office has plans of pulling the troops out of Iraq for at least two more years, because it can't be done without other problems developing. Listen to what these candidates say.

I want our next president to possess the admirable trait of honesty, but I don't want him bending over and kissing the booty of a representative of another country! That would be highly embarrassing. I want him to consider this country first, before all others! I'd like to see a ban on foreign donations to political parties. It is totally reprehensible for any U.S. political party to accept those donations.

Finally, don't vote because your either Republican or Democrat. That statement has no validity in intelligence and suggests you are no more than a robot being told what to do!

Obama all the way, I'm sick of the war and the views Bush and McCain share. It's funny that Bush is just now starting to talk about our fuel situation when his presidency is almost up, Hmmm he must want to try and leave on a high note????????????? I'm hoping the democrats can get us on the right track again.
