I just returned from a short trip to Las Vegas. The atrium at the Bellagio had one of the most beautiful Christmas displays I have ever seen. They had a family of polar bears made out of carnations. Papa must have been twenty feet tall and 18,000 carnations were used to make him. Mama needed 10,000 and baby needed 6,000. They had red ribbons around their necks. They had six flying reindeer made by gluing pecans onto reindeer forms. They had red halters and bridles with silver bells on them. There were giant Christmas balls and golden pine cones. HUndreds of pointsettias in red, pink and white. Giant snowflakes were hanging from the ceiling. The rectangular pond in the middle was filled with cranberries with star shaped forms holding crystals and water fountains. It was really magnificent. The atrium is worth a visit at any season of the year! |

Lestress...I'm glad you had a wonderful time in LV. It sounds beautiful this time of year. I never been Las Vagas Hopefully I will get there one day. We are going to spend New Years Eve & New Years Day in Chicago it nice there during the holiday but cold compared to Las Vegas. |

Gosh your description of the decor at Bellagio sounds so beautiful. My college age daughter and I are going in January while she is home on break, but of course by then all xmas stuff will be gone. I have never stayed at Bellagio, but we went to see the O show there and also to see the Chihuly glass sculpture. I also love the musical fountains out front. We are staying at Treasure Island this time, as it is closest to the Fashion Show Mall, Forum Shops etc. We don't do much gambling at all just mostly shopping and enjoying the terrific restaurants. Plus am looking forward to the mild temperatures in Vegas.......we have had plenty of snow, ice, rain and it's not really even Winter yet!! Anyway, glad to have you back in action on the boards |

Be sure to go to Bellagio's atrium. In January it is decorated for the Chinese New Year. We saw it a few years ago and the man we saw working on the display this year said it would be put up after the holidays! My avatar is mama bear from the display but she is not showing up very well unfortunately. |

The temperature in LV was a little chilly in the evenings - down to the 40's and went up to the 60's in the afternoon. I was comfortable in long sleeves and a light jacket. But when we returned home to Cincinnati it was 22 degrees ----- BRRRRRRR - the car had been sitting outside for four days and was it ever cold. I am not a gambler but I love to see the sights in Vegas. The casinoes are fantastic and the people so much fun to watch! |

We will definitely make a point to go see the Atrium, thanks so much for the tip. Also, regarding the Italian Pottery Outlet -- I took a look at their website and have requested a catalog. Some of the pitchers look really nice and I have a small collection of pottery pitchers, so might want to add a couple more to my newly remodeled kitchen |

I have a pitcher, a couple of plates and two biscotti jars. They are displayed on the top of my china cabinet. They are really beautiful. My kids never know what to get me for Christmas and birthdays so I give them the catalog and check things I like. All of the pieces I have are quite heavy - I bought two of their metal stands to put the plates on. I couldn't find anything locally that was sturdy enough. |
