Quote Tesstellthetruthalre: Okay, this woman was well aware of the fact that Megan (the victim) had a history of depression...apparently Lori Drew is a psycho case herself. I've read that Lori has called the police to her house on several occasions to report damage to her property or harrasment...due to her hoax...she's lucky she's not my next door neighbor is all I'm going to say...crazy people out there!! This is exactly why I try to be friendly with everyone online, you don't know who's on the other end of the computer, or what their situation is...I've defended a poster here many of times on this board, some really mean things were said to her...what if she had commited suicide because of all of the hostility here, ya know? All I can say is that this is a cruel effed up world, and I'm very scared for my kids to have to grow up in it!!!

gooood lord, im so right there with ya girl!!!!

so true---this story should be made aware to children so they can truly understand some of the dangers of online predators, and bullys.... i am gonna show it to my daughter when we get home.... Thank goodness she would show me something if there was a weirdo or strange goings on that were offensive to her... even when my daughter looks sad or disturbed i try to keep asking her till she tells me IF there is something wrong... BUT you gotta know when it is something just normal or when a child is depressed for weeks or months on end... communication is the key...

chy you are so right, communication is huge!! I've had so many talks with my twins about the dangers they can encounter on the internet, and have also discussed with them some things to look out for, especially on Myspace. I've explained to them that anyone can create a myspace page and be whoever they want, someone famous, or otherwise...their school also had an officer come in and talk to them about the dangers of myspace. As I've posted previously, I have their passwords, so I check all activity on their pages, and sometimes get their messages before they do....they know if they get an invitation from someone they don't know, they are NOT allowed to accept it. I've played around in online communities, and chat rooms for awhile, so I know what to look out for, and what to tell my kids to look out for...I just wish all parents had the relationship me and my children have....
It just really saddens me that we try so hard to teach our kids right from wrong, only to send them off into such a screwed up world!

you got that right! that is why i dont see how parents have kids that are making bombs, etc in their rooms and they dont know about it... whenever i want i am looking under beds, in closets, drawers, bookbags what and whenever i feel like it... they said stuff like why are you in MY ROOM, i say--all the rooms are mine i pay rent, u are just a temporary inhabitant ... but i used to think like that when i was a teen too... some things never change...
