I'm a military wife to a wonderful man in the USAF . He's been in almost 12 years and about to go over again. I made this post for anyone who wants to chat, vent, or make friends. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you.

i wish i can get veterans benefits i never had to endure my ex going off to any war.. I applaud the men and women who have spouses over in iraq and other places of engagement... my sister in law's husband had went over to the Gulf War in Saudi... That was a hard time for her, she had 3 small children... Plus we were in Germany away from family in the States... But when you are overseas you make friends that are as close as family... Where are you stationed at now..

My husband is originally from Texas and got sationed to McGuire AFB almost 12 years ago. I met him a little over 11 years ago here. I'm from Jersey, lived here my whole life. We've been together almost twelve years and married for 7.

my ex and i are both from Jersey... i wanted him to get station at Fort Dix, but didnt happen... that would have been real close to family... But i had to move far off, but i think in the long run that did me good, taught me how to be independent...

At first I didn't want to go anywhere because my family, I'm REALLY close to my father. Now with having a six month old little girl I wouldn't mind for us as a family to experience something new and different.

First of all, know that I am praying for all of our troops and their families. My utmost respect to all of them. I am an ex-militaary wife. When I married my first husband, he was the sweetest, most sensitive and compassionate man I had ever met. However, after he went through boot camp, he changed drstically. He became abusive and violent. He started to nitpick every little thing I did. He cheated on me and lied to me about everything he did, but expected me to stay home and wait for him while he blew our grocery money on strippers! And wo be to me if I said anything to him about anything! He ate on base, but I'd go for a week with nothing in our house for me to eat. He constantly compared me to his mother, of all people! She thought she was God's gift to the human race. I'm glad I divorced him!

Amanda I'm sorry you had to endure that. Fortunately not all of them are like that. Unfortunately men like your husband do give some military bad names. I'm glad to hear that you're alright. I'm actually suprised boot camp made him that way, usually when someone changes it's when they come back from war.

Have a blessed day and thank you for telling us you story.

Hate that you had to go thru that, sometimes people change at the drop of a hat... I wonder if the soldiers that have been thru the war will have help when they get back... i know that will have an effect on them... I pray for their mental health and well being.

Hi.I'm 14 and my dad has been in the military for 14 years.I have moved around a lot and I take it that all of you know all about that.I have been to so many different schools and places. Many of my friends say it would be cool to have a parent in the military but I tell them it isn't.My dad is a National Guard recruiter and is hardly ever home and when he is home he is on his work cell phone. He's out of town once every week and works on some weekends and doesn't get home some nights till 8:00.At least it is better now then where I used to live.Where I used to live he left around 5a.m. and didn't get home till 11p.m.I never ever saw him then.At least I see him now.The good part is that he gets to retire in 5 years. It won't do me any good though because I will be in my first year of college when he retires.Well,it has been nice to chat with you guys and hope to talk to you guys soon.We all have something in common.

Shelby I'm sorry you don't get to see your dad as often as you want. You should be very proud of him for what he's doing with his life. I'm sure he's missing you every minute of everyday he's away from you.

God Bless!!!!!

ITA, I am so sorry you had to go through that, and I also agree that war is what usually changes them...but bootcamp isn't unheard of. I'm glad you are happy now.

I am married to a Marine and we have been through deployment as well and are already gearing up for another one. It's scary, but it's amazing how much more solid it can make your marriage as you go through it together. I love him with all of my heart and soul and wouldn't change it for the world. I used to think I would never want to move away from home in VA, and then I met my husband and I am so excited we get to move all over. You travel for free practically. It's nice.

Nice to meet everybody!
