Quote Candace: Hi guys!
Thought I'd pop over and say 'hey'! Can't believe the discussion is about migraines - I'm a huge migraine sufferer, although they have been more manageable in the past few years. I started getting them when I hit puberty (hormonal, I guess) and haven't stopped since! My triggers seem to be not enough sleep, too much sleep, hormones, barometric pressure and muscle pain. Here in Canada we can buy codeine over-the-counter and that is what helps me best. I've learned to treat different headaches with different means though. For instance, weather-related and hormonal migraines sometimes respond to caffeine if I catch them early on. Others respond to anti-inflammatory drugs like Naproxen (I get migraines from jaw, neck and back muscular problems) and stretching best. I always tell people that migraines like mine are a lifestyle, not anything less. They affect your whole life, your plans, your loved ones etc.... Pain in the butt!! I was so worried my daughter would develop them, but she's 14 now and only gets one bad headache at the beginning of her period - whew! Hi there Candace: Glad that you stopped in to post. I posted you something and left you a message so hopefully you got to read the board. I have had headaches my whole life due to a TMJ problem. It is so true that different pain responds to different pain relievers and different types of headaches react the same way. I have problems like you w/ too much or too little sleep. Diet and exercise is a big factor. Hormonal headaches are a big female problem for most of us. A friend of mine told me wait until the change when your hormones are so out of whack and that leads to headaches and mental fog. I don't look forward to it and it will be here soon enough for me. I wish more people would feel encouraged to come over to the lounge. I guess people are busy. Hang in there guys! XO Candace |

XO Candace Hi Candace, I too, suffer alot from Migraines. As soon as I start getting nauscious it is nothing but bed, darkness, cold-pack and prayer. I can not buck my head, sit straight or even lie down, it is horrendous. I take Ibuprofen (800 - 1000mg), which proves to be quite helpful. Going for walks on the fresh air, drinking black coffee with lemon (yuck) and so helps only for a little while. My headaches are mostly due to stress, I get back- and earpain and then the eyes hurt... just glad that I don't have them so much in the past two weeks... after I left the job. Goes to show, what psychologically hurts, hurts also physically. Thanx for posting! Grüß dich, Outland! |

What is with us women and migraines? Everytime I tell my mother-in-law (who is a nurse) that women suffer more then men, she lists the problems that men suffer from as well. (LOL) |

Quote girly51: Hello Ladies, Hope everyone is well. Wanted to check in, I have been reading the comments on the B&B site, watching the episodes at night if I'm not too tired, and reading these posts as well. I am recovering from a four car accident my youngest daughter and I were involved in last Thursday, leaving from my work. We are ok. The impact did cause me to immediately have the mother of all migraines!!! I've been dealing with a headache since Thursday. I had the weekend to rest and relax but have so much to do at work, which I think is good since it keeps my mind occupied. I'll be posting later. Take care All! girly 51: That is very frightening. I was in a car accident where I was stopped at a red light and a guy slammed into me from behind. He did alot of damage to my car but my husband and I were all right. They took me to the hospital by ambulance just to make sure I didn't have any whiplash to my jaw and neck area since that is a weak area for me. I didn't really want x-rays because I felt that I would be fine but because I was in shock and kept repaeating myself over and over, they insisted. They just wanted to put my mind at ease. I hope you are okay. You should really be checked out because sometimes the adrenaline is running so high that you don't even realize the extent of your injuries. Keep me posted. |

Quote dwebster: Here is a message from Bremarie. Hey guys, sorry you haven;'t heard from me. I was in the hospital. I had a seizure. I had two medications that didn't get along. Which I find rather odd , considering that I get them at the same pharmacy. And now thanks to them I can't drive for six months. And I live in a small town. I'd say could this get any worse, but I know it could. So if any of you ladies or gents live anywhere near Iowa City, let me know. Don't know any more than that. She didn't say, as you can see, about the brain cancer. We'll just hope that things go well for her. She is a great lady. dwebster: I am glad that you found out some information about Bremarie for us. I hope she is able to read our well wishes in the lounge message thread when she feels well enough to do so. |
