Hi, Suchi: End of May can be wet....the Rose Festival starts the first week of June, and that week has been notorious for being cold and wet...just in time for the parade and waterfront festival!!! I cannot really predict beyond that...anything goes this time of year. What are you planning to do in Portland? What do you guys like to do? |

Quote dwebster: Quote girly51: Quote dwebster: Quote girly51: Good morning ladies, hope everyone is well today. Lovely weather in Ohio today. Read the posts left from the weekend, seems alot of us are going through some personal issues, health problems; this is the place to be. You won't find a more caring, loving, supportive group of women!!! Candice- You don't know how happy I am to see you posting again, my friend!! So very sorry to hear you were in the hospital, hopefully you're feeling better by now. Email when you're up to it. BonB- I echo your advice, ladies get your mammograms done!!! I lost my dad to breast cancer in January '03. A decade ago male breast cancer was not something you heard much about, however, it's now becoming a much more common occurrence. So, needless to say, I get mine done religiously every year in April and encourage my daughters to do self exams. I learned something when I went for mine in April, never be afraid to ask questions. I always get mine done in our main hospital but was told that the imaging equipment was from the stone ages and that some of our outlying locations have updated, state of the art equipment that read a more clearer, accurate image, which is so important in determining masses as opposed to what might be just a cyst or fatty tissue. Outland- Get yours scheduled, my friend, or luvda and I might just have to take some time off and fly to Germany to make sure you get it done!!! Luvda- I think it was you who mentioned colon cancer screening; that's usually recommended when you turn 50. For me, the worst part of that procedure was finding a vein for the Demerol to put me in lalaland!!! I have very small veins so that's always a challenge. Oh, and ask your doctor about the prep stuff you take before the procedure; some take the gallon of golytely, I asked my doc about the Fleet phospho, which is only an ounce and a half in two bottles as opposed to an entire gallon, which for most, I've heard is not pretty!!! I try never to expect the worse, so really, it was over before I knew it, plus you don't really remember much!! dwebster- I thought I had the title of migraine queen!!! Join the club with Candy050 and I!!! After trying prescription drug samples, I've found that Migraine Excedrin works best for me as well. I get routine labs done once a year, to also make sure it's not effecting my liver, otherwise, that'd be the end of that and I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't take that anymore!!! Mother's Day this Sunday, always a nice day to look forward to. So, for those going through personal and health issues, medical procedures coming up, you're all in my thoughts and prayers. Take care, ladies and have a wonderful day! Cindy Girly - Good Morning! My feet don't hit the floor in the morning that I don't have to take 2 EM. I have such terrible headaches. I even had a brain scan to make sure there wasn't a tumor in there. I have no idea why I keep having them. Sometimes I wish they would find something so I would have a reason for the headaches. We can pray for each other that they go away and stay away. Hi Diane, Man, I thought I was bad, sounds like we both should take stock in the Excedrin company!!! A friend told me the combination of aspirin and acetaminophen isn't a good one. Tried researching the pros and cons of it, couldn't find much one way or the other so I'm thinking maybe we'd have to take a half a dozen a day to really effect the liver. My liver function tests always come back normal, I'm not turning jaundice and as long as they give me relief, I'll continue taking them!!! Have you figured out what triggers yours? I've determined, at times, chocolate triggers mine but for the most part, I guess they're something I've learned to live with. Hang in there, at least we have something that gives us some relief! Cindy Girly/Cindy, I don't know what triggers them. I'm diabetic so I don't eat sweets and especially chocolate. And since I had the gastric bypass 7 years ago I really don't eat much. I live on yogart and soft veggies. I don't eat meat as it does not digest without making me lose it. I have been to the doctor for pain more times. I have been given vicodon which I take but the EM is the ONLY thing that works for my headaches. I'm sure stress has something to do with it. I just can't pinpoint what. ON the weekends I stay in bed and sleep most of the time. It helps me to be able to get up on Monday's to start the week. Enough about my complaining self. Have a great week. Diane Hi Diane, Don't ever feel like you're complaining, I feel like it's good advice to find out how other migraine sufferers manage their headaches. I, too, took Vicodin for awhile, once I ran out of my last script, I didn't want to take it anymore. I took the Imitrex, which was a 200mg tablet, which I thought was too high of a dosage, made me loopy!!! Tried Maxalt, Zomig, Frova, nothing touched the pain. Like you, EM is about the only thing that works for me, that and my LazEboy recliner, a dark, quiet room and a day that the pain is manageable! Talk with you soon, have a great day! Cindy |

Cindy Cindy/Girly, I too have tried imitrex. Didn't even touch it. Vicodon don't help either. I have to take pills for sick stomich as it makes me extremely ill. And then I'm like you, in bed in a very dark room. When it happens here at work I wear my dark sunglasses. Everyone knows to stay away from me. It's horrible. Catching it early is the key. If I take the EM at the very first sign of a headache it's not as bad but if I wait, look out. Like a herd of thundering horses running through my head. I feel today is going to be interesting. Isn't this the day of the wedding? LOL Diane |

Quote Luvdasoaps: Good Morning Ladies, When I turned in last night there were 105 posts. Now there are 68. I didn't know we had that many spoiler alerts in the posts. Oh well. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day, kinda overcast right now here in my part of O-H-I-O! We are expecting the sun to return after the stubborn clouds float away soaps, sorry, I missed you. I'll try one night to get up early just to see if you're online and chat with you Dakota, I hope you're feeling better. I saw a spot on Nightly News, NBC about the brain healing the body. They said something about are the two connected to the healing process. If thats the case, tell your brain you want to feel better so you can be back on the mend Out...I know you're probably resting. You need it for the work that you do. girly...I have been subjected to watch Dancing with the Stars, no reality shows are on. Two and half men was hilarious last night. If you ever watch America's Next Top Model, there is a Columbus girl on that is in the top four that are left. She talks so much and acts like she's on top, she's not! Her name is Dominique. Storme, looks like you had a well rested night or did Candace kick you out Hi there Luvda: Yes, two and a half men was hysterical last night. It was prob the funniest one yet. I realize about the brain and body or should I say mind/body connection. Unfortunately, as someone who majored in psychology, I can teel you two important things about pain. 1.) The longer a person lives with chronic pain...the brain maps it and won't let go of it. The brain becomes sensitized and the person's quality of life suffers as a result. 2.) The closer the pain is to the brain (in my case my jaw) the harder it is to manage. This is why headaches are so debilitating to people. (girly and debwester..this applies to you both as well as me, because we are all headache sufferers). I am not trying to be a downer but I know the facts realistically. This is why I had to go on antidepressants in order to cope with this. I was on Klonopin to try and manage it but I didn't want to live my life doped up. |
