Hey Alfie ~~~~ Me and Mary Ann would love for you to go to Italy w/ us! Right now it's just a 'fantasy' trip, so no car is required to make the journey w/ us! hehehe Just close your eyes and let your imagination take over!

I'm still a little 'hung over' today, so pardon me if I sound dense, but what does salt have to do w/ fleas????? The reason I ask is ..... fleas and ticks have been really bad here this year. And, it doesn't seem to matter how many flea baths and drops we use on our dog, with her going in and out to use the bathroom, she's been bringing fleas back in. As soon as I feel or see one jump on me, I spray, even used the Flea Bombs on the downstairs rooms and garage. I can't wait for it to get cold enough to kill them outside! hehehe Until then I'm still dealing w/ them! So, what does salt do to them???? Love You, Susie

Susie, I went on-line and looked for the salt remedy for fleas that Alfie was talking about. Here's the link. It's got great tips.
All natural stuff..no chemicals.

Hey, everybody, up an at 'em!
If we hurry we can make it to Dmom's for THANKSGIVING DINNER. Tomorrow is actually Canada's Thanksgiving but I think she said she was 'hosting' the celebration today. She hasn't been on site since GNO so she's probably been cooking up a storm!! MMmmmm, I'm ready! How about you?? Wonder what she's having? Hey, Dmom, stick your head in the door and be like old grandpa on Hee Haw and tell us 'What's fer dinner?"

Please, no possum belly!!

I promised NY that I'd try to remember the lyrics to the songs Dennis Day sang in Walt Disney's "Johnny Appleseed".
I found them on line and, to bring you a childhood memory, here they are. I'm sure you'll be singing along with them.

------------------------------
~~"The Lord Is Good to Me"~~

The Lord is good to me
and so I thank the Lord
For giving me the things I need,
The sun and rain and an apple seed,
Yes, He's been good to me.

I owe the Lord so much,
For everything I need.
I'm certain, if it weren't for him,
There'd be no apples on this limb.
Yes, He's been good to me.

Oh, here am I, 'neath the blue, blue sky,
A'doin' as I please.
Singin' with my feathered friends,
Humming with the bees.

I wake up every day,
As healthy as can be,
Because I know that, with His care,
My apple trees will still be there.
Oh, the Lord is good to me.

------------------------------
~~~~~~ The Apple Song ~~~~~~
There's apple pickles, oh so tasty,
Apple tarts and apple pastry,
Apple dumplings, not to mention, apple sass'.
Yes, there's apple fritters,
Light as thistle,
And, for folks to wet their whistle,
Tangy apple cider, in a glass.
Stew 'em, fry 'em, boil 'em,
bake 'em,
Apple pie and apple cake 'em,
You can cook an apple any way.
Apple this and apple that--
the recipes would fill your hat,
Why, I could carry on like this all day!
So, pack your stuff and get
a-goin',
Get them apple tree a-growin',
There's a lot of work out there to do.
Yes, there's a lot of work for you.
------------------------------
OK, gals, there's your happy memories for the day. You won't get THOSE tunes out of your head for the rest of the day....hee hee hee
Love,
M.A.
goodmorning everyone, i believe it is monday morning. i am kinda screwed up on what day it is and what time zone i am on. we got back last evening from our big family reunion and it was wonderful. we took our time coming back yesterday and checked out several flea markets and antique markets. i bought this really neat old lamp with a wood base for $2.00. it works and was clean as can be. it has a family carved out on its front at the dinner table. ii will explore more of that today.
i know you guys sorta forgot i said we were going out of town. i have 52 messages from pals and a total of 52 altogether. i promise i will answer all but it may take a day or two. also i have just popped on without reading any back posts. by the time we left i was so exhausted from all the doctor business. by the time we reached the alabama line i was so into seeing all my relatives and my mom and dad that i was squealing! we all worked hard friday and saturday turned out perfect. beautiful weather except for some overcast clouds. it was so good to be back on my sisters and my farm. there are no animals on the farm except for my sis, diane, dogs. the are beagles and blue tic pointer"hunt type" dogs. i love them all. we had a total of 46 relatives and 18 from the surrounding farms that we all knew and grew up with. that for us was a bunch and it was so neat how receptive everyone was to everybody. my best pal was my cousin jodie that i always played with as we grew up. the last time i saw him he was 16. now he is grown divorced and has 3 boys. we couldn't wait to hug each other. he gave me a kiss on my cheek and told gary he always wanted to give me a kiss way back when but scared i would deck him! bye the way my dad and mom looked good, dad seemed alot better. my brother terry was also doing good. he made me a big birdhouse that looks exactly like our new barn. mom gave him a picture i sent her. he is older than me and has special needs. this thing looked so neat and was beautiful and very profestional looking.
right now i am on the same meds until i go back to my regular medical doctor on thursday for my recheck on my jaw. infection seems to be going away but my jaw joint is still swollen out again. thursday i also see my dentist. alot has happened lately from my appointment with the pain doctor but i am still really confused about all what happened. thank god i took gary with me. the outcome was bad and i am not going back to him. i will tell yall more later because if yall ever get in a situation like mine yall really need to know what we have learned. it is very scarey what has happened to me.
to end, i want to tell each of you that when we are away i miss all of you so much. i am always praying for yall and i appreciate the prayers in return. i am looking forward to talking to all of you "over the clothes line".
much love,
sharon
ps - - i also bought a brown grocery bag filled to the top of TASTE OF HOME cooking magazines that date back to 1998 until recently. i am loving looking at these and the whole bag cost me $2.50. so many new ideas. also gary said on the way home our next big project is going to be building a BUNKHOUSE!!!!!!!!! yippie!!!!!
Good morning ladies, Happy Columbus Day. Raggies, I came online to see if you had written, and thank goodness I checked PALS before you got a phone call from me. I forgot you were going away and I was worried since your last email was going to the doctors. Glad you had a nice time with your family, it's nice to see family that you haven't saw in awhile and reminice and see how everyone has changed over the years. Glad you are ok. I had such a busy weekend. I went apple picking on Saturday, I have so many apples that I don't want to look at them anymore. We went to NJ and there were so many trees, we got lost trying to find our way out that when we got back in the car, the kids were asleep, that fresh hair knocked them out. Sunday, we went to NJ again to my sisters with my parents and we went pumpkin picking. We go to this farm that's 33 acres and they take you on this hay ride(free) and then you go out into the field and look for these pumpkins. My mom didn't come on the hayride, she can't walk so we sat her down where all the food and stuff was. Dad came but he couldn't walk, usually they cut the field so we can walk and find the pumpkins, this time, everything was so high, we were afraid dad would fall so my sister stayed with him and we went to look for pumpkins and then my son stayed with my dad and my sister got hers but it was alot of fun. Now, we are done with the fall stuff. Now I have to concentrate on SATURDAY AND MEETING STEVE BURTON AND BRANDON BARASH. Ok, I had to write that in capitals because I am starting to get excited and I spoke to my niece last night and she is looking forward to coming with me even though she doesn't watch GH, she is so good. Well, kids are home today, Michael has 3 tests, gymnastics from 1-3pm and I better get going. Another beautiful day in NY so everyone enjoy it. Talk to you all later.
Happy Monday, everyone! You'll notice I didn't say
Happy Columbus Day because it ISN'T. Yesterday was REALLY Columbus Day. Hope you are all enjoying your extended weekend today.
Raggs...So glad that you had such a wonderful time at your family reunion. You needed that! Isn't it fun to reconnect with old childhood pals and long lost relatives?
I'm one of your 52 emails that you have to read this morning. I couldn't remember just when your reunion was. You've got so much going on down there.
Good morning, Roe. You certainly had a busy weekend but it was the fun kind of busy. YOU needed THAT, too.
Hope this week goes well for you.
I'm pretty talked out from yesterday's posting. I didn't realize I'd been such a chatterbox until I was rereading our posts from GNO thru the weekend. Yesterday, there weren't too many of you gals around, which is good, because it was a beautiful time to be out and about.
Here, in CT, our whole week is supposed to be in the mid to high 70s and nice. Love it!
Guess all the 'party people' are still recuperating. Haven't heard from mommieof1 or DM all weekend. Since this is still the 'official' holiday, we may be sparse again today.
Well, I'm off to attend to some errands. I'll check back later.
Love to all,
M.A.
hello again everyone. i have just awakened from a short nap on the sofa. gary called to check on me and it woke me up. i am going to eat lunch then lay back down for a while. i am really exhausted from trip. always seems like everytime i go away it takes me several days to get over it.
mary ann i did see the breaker breaker but i still have not opened any yet. glad i came to site first that way everyone could see i was ok all at once.
roe, friend, ou sound like you had a good ol down home fall weekend. our shindig here on the farm is 11-13. they will all be able to get a pumpkin but they are already picked and will be hid in the hay.all i seemed to grow good was the white pumpkins, no orange. i do have one white pumpkin that is still growing and right now it is 72 pounds which is good for a white one. we decided to have it near thanksgiving because there are so many halloween things going on with the surrounding farms. they do haunted farms. as soon as i catch up on my rest today i will be getting with you, and everyone about what happened at my pain doctor. right now i am still kinda raw from it, lots of emotions running around in my head. i wish i was able to go pick apples. nothing but crab apples down this a way but pecans should be ready here shortley. just before thanksgiving. what are you going to do with all those apples?????
gval and dm, how are yall gals? gval i hope you are feeling better. dm, happy thanksgiving, what do yall eat for thanksgiving. what is the tradition.
soup is ready. i hope to be awake at 3 pm for gh. i saw one epi this am. boy they have really gotten jason looking stupid serving drinks. what the heck is going on there? soups on bye yall
MA--Thanks to you I have been receiving some great birthday messages! It makes me feel so special that you remembered. It has been a bad few weeks , it would have been cjs 18th birthday on the 26th-my husbands dads memorial service was on the 28th, and we scattered Cam's dads ashes on this Saturday, the 11th , but it was a glorious day here in the Pacific NW (and I thought of you all day NY, what with Sunday being the anniversary for you) and the sun was shining and the leaves are changing and we spread him over a river where he liked to fish, and i thought that this was part of God's plan and if I could go that peacefully and quickly and be somewhere that beautiful that's the way I would choose.
And then I came to work and had lot's of birthday wishes and hugs and kisses and licks (Cali, you bad girl, Raggs is back and she has the switch!)
So thank all you ladies for making my day
And Where the heck ARE all the shirtless men?
Hey Roe, how are ya? I understand you had your share of zucchini in your lap on Friday at GNO--and did you shake any cannoli's? I hear you are GOING TO MEET STEVE BURTON on saturday! Tell him we love the comedy with maximus, et al. He must be having a fun time doing that (like the time someone had the quartermaine fantasy thanksgiving dream and he was all prepped out and talked a little like a valley girl and they were eating real turkey and everything) And remember to come back and tell us every little detail. And if they are not going to let him be with Elizabeth (cause by the time they get them together, it will be almost time to break them up TPTB have messed them up so bad) then he should play the field. Can you imaging all the women in PC going after Jason..Or all the women on the boards going after Jason?? And Jason with his shirt off,,,well you know.
Thanks again for the birthday wishes..
Hi Girls!
Happy Columbus Day amici!!!!!
CJsmom-HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!! My wish for you is many, many shirtless men to grace your tv screen and then some more.... I had a nice, juicy sausage and pepper hero at the Columbus Day feast, just in your honor!! hee,hee,hee...DELICIOUS!!! THank you for thinking of me on Sunday. It was a beautiful day and my family and I spent it together and it was pretty good. It was a little easier to reminisce about him. I'm so sorry about your losses. Did your father in law just pass? If you could give me your email, we could talk some more. hugs from NY!
Gval-thank you too! Today, me and the kids dressed w/our Italian stuff,pins, t-shirts, hats and went to the feast. My father was the most patriotic man I knew, and it's like a sweet reminder as we pay homage to him too when we proudly display our Italian pride. We do the exact same thing for America on the 4th of July and 9/11. He was equally passionate for both countries. Baci a Papa'!!
MA-I loved your apple songs, though I must admit, they were not familiar(maybe if you could sing them!). My family and I LOVE apples and we are fortunate to be so close to many orchards. I also do bake a delicious apple walnut cake w/these apples all the time. And, for Thanksgiving, an oldfashioned apple crumb pie. We also like to bake them whole or make an apple crisp. We can't get enough and they never go bad. And, of course the kids bring them in to their teachers too! Hope you had a great weekend!!!
Susie-It's hard when someone you love passes near a holiday. My Dad passed right on Columbus Day Oct 12, so it's very symbolic for us and it helps us feel like he probably picked that day! We get to celebrate him and who he was.
Raggs-I'm so happy your reunion went well!!! Hope you are feeling well. I love pecans-do you make pecan pie? Love them!!!
Dsmom-Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Mommieof1-happy birthday Erin!!!
Roe-you see Steve B this coming weekend? Wow, that was fast! Hope you got your outfit picked out. Something sexy and bright so that you stand out. (not that you'd have a problem getting his attention.... ) I saw Rob Thomas at the orchard we went to this Saturday!!!! He was eating funnel cake right next to us!! So cute!!
Talk to you all tomorrow.
