Hang onto your hats if you live on the East Coast! Hanna's going to pay us a whirlwind visit this weekend!
We had some rain come through last night that left 22,000 without power around the state. Hanna isn't supposed to reach here until tonight but there will be winds and rain moving ahead of her that can raise havoc with the shoreline. All the marinas are checking to be sure all boats are secured with double lines in their berths. Folks are sandbagging their homes and cottages and boarding up windows.

I live west of Hartford, away from the shore, so we should be pretty safe, as long as Hanna doesn't gain strength when she passes the Jersey Shore, over open water again.

Raggs, what did you and Gary decide? Are you staying home or going to your Aunts' to make sure they're secure?

Do any of you gals in NY live near the ocean? How about you, mommie? You're in New Jersey, aren't you?

I got all my batteries yesterday for the flashlights, portable radio, and my little B&W TV. It only pulls in the local channels but is better than nothing.
Also made some batches of ice in quart-sized plastic containers with covers. They're always good to have for packing your perishables in coolers.

Well, that's all the tips I have this morning. I got all my errands done yesterday so I can just stay home and wait it out.

I think I'm going to try to get through to the "Stand Up To Cancer" phone lines this morning and get my donation in. I was so happy to see Patrick Swayze there. He looks like he's doing well, under the circumstances.

Just a quick shout out! Me and Wayne are getting ready to go to TN for the weekend for Lori Ann's birthday. He took Monday as a vacation day, so we could stay a little longer. I can't wait to see our Sammy! And, we're riding the horses which I always enjoy. I hope all the East Coasters have a safe weekend in the wake of Hanna. We didn't even get a drop of rain from it! Hi everyone, raining all day here. Sister called from NJ and she said the winds are acting up so I guess they will hit Staten Island soon. Maryann, heard tornado alert in Ct, hope all is well. I won a fish last night at the festival, so today, we went out to get another one. I still had the tank from my last fishes so we just had to get some food. Love fish, hope they live long like last time. I love watching them, the kids named them Finease and Ferb from the cartoon on Nickelodeon. Well, be safe everyone, talk to you all when we can.

Hi ya'all! Mike raced last night and he was finally actually able to RACE instead of just driving around the track at the back of the pac. We got a new (used) motor and although we had problems at first - it ran great for awhile so he could get in the game and have some fun.

Unfortunately, he spun himself out right in front of me (in the bleachers) to avoid hitting a rookie on the track and then got nailed by the guy whose wife was next to me. They were both ok and kept racing. He later had to pull off the track as the trouble lights on the dash board were starting to light up. Instead of breaking something, he came off the track.

There were some other guys who tore some stuff up BIG TIME. A couple of bad flips and some cars being hauled off on the "hook" of the tow truck. They are done for the season.

I am off to bed now as I can barely keep my eyes open.

The weather people were right!
The storm is out of here and it's a beautiful, sunny day.
I just woke up an hour ago and haven't listened to any newscasts yet so I don't know how the folks on the shoreline made out. We didn't lose power here. We did lose our DIRECTV satelite signal on and off for a while, but that was it.

Well, I've got to get ready to drive down to E.Hampton for our family gathering. Baby Sara Jean will be there.
She's 2 months old already!
Can't wait to hold her!

Afternoon ladies. Cali, KK is so cute in that picture,loved her pick tails. Sorry about the race but at least you got to race. Weather here was fine yesterday, made us get all prepared and all we had was rain. Not complaining but I thought it was going to be worse. Hope all my other NYorkers are fine. NYDRAMA, I saw there was alot of flooding up I think where you are, hope all is well. Tomorrow, kids are in school full time, I am going walking in the am with my friend Barbara, Sue has a funeral mass and then food shopping. I was suppose to get my new cellphone today but had an arguement with Mike and we are not talking so I have to get it sometime this week and I hope I can without him since it's under his name and I am not the primary. If not, I just don't use my cellphone and if he can't find me, that's his problem.Nice day today, I was sitting in my yard until the chair broke, my kids played with it and it's broke so I got upset and I am on the computer now. So, have a good day and speak to everyone hopefully this week.
