Cali, the date of your brothers passing definitely has special meaning for you. Funny, huh? Those connections we can't ignore. Reminds me of when my father died on October 12, 2005. He was the most patriotic Italian/American I had ever known. He loved both his native Italy, but equally loved his American heritage too. Flags of both countries were flying and proudly displayed everywhere. He enjoyed the history of both countries and read everything he could get his hands on about it. Everyday, he wore his pins. He was so proud. Well, guess what? After we got over the trauma of his passing, we finally realized that my father picked the perfect day for him- the day America was discovered by an Italian explorer- Columbus Day. A day we celebrate every year! It was so fitting, and it is something we all reflect on w/a smile every time. I know you will too.

Roe, we make our tomato sauce every August. It's a messy process and we are constantly fighting w/the crazy bees at this time of year! We work outside, my mom's patio is covered and we have a burner w/a huge "witches" pot. And we are inside too. It's a day long process, but it's a group effort and we are also dealing w/the kids! We only use that home made sauce and even my kids notice when I substitute a canned sauce! Yes, we still make our own sausages too! Every winter, and we look forward to it since that we run out of sooner. So delicious!!! Thankfully my hubby enjoys eating it and making it, so it will be a tradition we will continue. We enjoy it since it's a family affair. Tiring, but good times!

Me and Wayne are getting ready to go to his sister's house for a family cookout. I made potato salad, baked beans and deviled eggs as our contribution. Everyone is bringing something. Sandra gave Deana the easiest of things to bring. Hotdog and Hamburger buns and dinner rolls!!!! NO cooking required! hehehe Deana just called. She FORGOT! Can we stop on the way and pick them up for her? WHAT THE MOP!!! When I asked why she couldn't do it, she said they're running late! She's having trouble getting the girls ready! PUULLLLEEEEZZZEEE! I know this is Sunday and I need to curb my 'biotchy' thoughts!! hehehe I pray you all have a safe and blessed Holiday weekend. All my love, Susie

Good afternoon ladies. GHFAN, glad you had a nice time with your hubby, we all need to get away for awhile. Where did you go? NYDRAMA, if ever we meet, you have to bring me a jar. Today was such a blah day, we just stayed in and did nothing on such a nice day, for some reason, we were all tired. Tomorrow, we are barbaquing and maybe I will sit in the sun for awhile in my backyard. Hope everyone is ok with all this crazy weather they are having everywhere. My brother said they got hit with a huge rain storm in Florida, raggies, hope you are ok. Well, enjoy the weekend. Talk to everyone soon.

Cali: my prayers are w/ you and your family. I know what it's like to lose a close member of the family. My dad passed away 19 years ago and it still feels like yesterday. You'll always remember the day and you'll always have the memories of the time you spent together. He's in a great place now and at peace. Once you're able to, don't be afraid to put pictures of him around the house.

I don't know of anyone in New Orleans but we do have some gals in the projected landfall path of the storm.

LMA is in Alabama.

Raggs' parents are in Pensacola, FL.

Raggs' sister and husband are on their farm in Alabama.

Alfie's in Oklahoma.
Her daughter, Autumn, is in Texas.

Auntiep is in Arkansas.

I think those are the only ones most threatened right now.

So, please gals, if I've listed you above, please check in with us and keep us updated on how things are going.

If I've missed anyone, please post here and let us know your position, as this storm moves closer to land.

We will all be praying that you all remain safe.

hi, we are fine,we have been praying for everyone else.the news says the aminals are going with the people. but what happens to the people on the islands. there is one thats going to go up the eastern coast too.I hope we dont get much damanage to the coast. people are just getting their lives settled again.this is the last thing they need.

good morning ladies and it os monday morning and we are lucky it is a beautiful day here in ny. well maryanne thankyou for letting us know if there is anyone in the strom path. i was going to ask that very question. ladies who are near the strom be careful. ny that sounds like alot of work but alot of fun because you are doing it with your family. i dont have any plans except to finish some things around the house and make sre mitch has his two reports ready for school, nothing like the last minute with him. raggs i hope you had a nice visit with with chard. mommy where have you been erin should be running around or getting ready too. has anyone hear from rock lately is she ok? and all you other ladies have a great day.

Hey Girls ~~~~ My thoughts and prayers are w/ all the people in the path of Gustav. Here in GA we're getting nothing but clouds and some wind. We're staying glued to the TV watching the progress of the storm. I know Raggs was concerned about her parents in Pennsacola. I pray they're alright.

Hey Alfie ~~~ I loved the advice for Deana and the girls! hehehe I love Deana but I've had to accept the fact that she's just plain ol' lazy!! Also, not having the money for the buns for the cookout was an issue. BUT, she spent the whole afternoon bragging about the new flat screen TV they bought at a Labor Day Sale!!!!! I have a hard time being sympathetic when her priorities are so screwed up!

Good morning Auntie, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU I hope you have a great birthday and a great day. We won't ask how old you are. Today is the last day of freedom for my kids, tomorrow is back to school so today we are going to do whatever they want to. I invited a friend over since her dad passed away yesterday, I offered to take her kids so we have to see if she is coming. If not, I will take the kids out to lunch, it's hot today so maybe they want to go in the pool one last time. So, I will be online later but I just wanted to wish everyone a good day and for all those of you who had to get up early to get the kids on the schoolbus, I feel your pain, that will be me tomorrow.
