I've got to catch up on the posts from the last two days.
We had terrible thunderstorms
that created problems with the phone lines. There was a lot of static on the line and it interfered with my webtv connection. It wouldn't let me logon. Then, the guy was here from DirectTV so my TV wasn't working for a couple of hours while we were disconnected from cable and set up with our new digital dish. It was worth the wait, though. We're all set for next year now.

I'm so excited about this DirectTV system. I've got a lot more channels than I had with cable and some of them are so cool. If any of you has it, you know what I mean.
I can get SOAPNET now!! I'm so happy!!! Now, I can watch our soaps at night, too, in case I miss any. Also, they've got the music channels by decades. The 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, etc. I sat here last night listening to the music from the 40s. They have newscasts for this date back in a 40s year. The first time I turned it on, it was giving the news for
July 24,1942, the year I was born. It was all about Hitler and the latest war news out of Europe. It felt like I'd entered a time machine. Very strange.
I love all the wartime songs and music of the Big Bands.
Music has always played a big part in my family life. I was singing along with all of them. Funny how we remember all the words to songs we haven't heard in years and years. They're just stored on a shelf in the back of our minds, just waiting for us to pull them out and dust them off, along with the memories that went with them.

Ooops, got a little carried away there in my reverie.

Hope everyone is doing ok. I'll be at GNO. I have a neat snack for tonight. Picked up some of the new Apple Fries from Mickey D's. They come with a packet of yummy caramel sauce to dip them in.
The apples are sliced like french fries and come in a bag. They're NOT fried. They're ice cold. You just eat them that way. Tasty little critters.

OK, I've got to get my drinks mixed. Be back at 8pm.

I am curious about the new direct tv you have w/old news? I have the oldies music channel but don't think I'm familiar w/the news from yesteryear. I only have cable/optimum, so maybe that's the difference?

I adore the music and movies of yesteryear. I'm really starting to enjoy AMC and there was a movie starring Ms. Russel (for the life of me, I can't remember her name or the movie name) but it was an early one for her and she was in a comedic role w/a blond character that was her sister and they moved to NYC. Does it sound familiar? I love that movie and watched many more w/her. Wasn't she in "THe Women"? I actually saw that on Broadway a couple of years ago and it was equally as fantastic!

happy b-days NYDrama, and gval-- And I hope you have Many """""""""""""" more--Whose all in the house-- are any of you allergic to Latex-- I am and I didn't check the two band-aides I put on a scratch-- where the Band-aides were my skin is red an rawl-- had to go to the DR, I am on atibotics for ten day (They are making me sick).- plus I have to put some medicine cream on it. My leg is swelled up and sore. I knew I was allergic-- but I didn't know how bad- auntiep--

I didn't know you could be allergic to latex. Seems these days, everyone is allergic to something, right? Thankfully, I'm not. But I wonder if I'm allergic to my kids sometimes!!
10 days is a long time-hope it flies. Make sure you eat your yogurt. That helps replenish the good bacteria that the antibiotics kills.

I am writing a quick note to say that I am going to miss GNO AGAIN . My home computer is still down we need a new one but unfortunatly unable to purchasE one at this time due to some household needs. So I hope you all have a great weekend. Have a "sip" for me!!!
