OUr rebellious or willful streaks often lead to unhappy outcomes. In anger Moses struck the rock to get water rathr than just speak to it as God had commanded. He forfeited the rivilege of entering the Promised Land with his people. Jonah disobeyed an order to go to Nineveh and was given 3 days to think about his choice---inside a big fish. (jonah 1)

Feeling Rhythmic…
Ordinary sounds generally do no capture our imagination. Rather, we call them “noise” and consider them distracting. As we shift into unconditional thankfulness, we play with these sounds in a whole new way. We release the idea of noise and listen for the music! Pay attention to every sound around you in the moment – the sound of your breath. Listen for the many distinct sounds in the background; sense the variation and pitch in each one. These sounds are the music of your day and provide a sensory awareness of being alive in a dynamically physical world. They orient your body to space and time and bring you to the present moment.

For a treat, free your inner playful kid and create a song from crunching fallen leaves beneath your own feet. Rake up a pile; step on the leaves to your own tempo and beat – dance, stomp, and prance with playful abandon. And best of all, as you hear the sound of dried leaves crackling, appreciate the sound of releasing what has completed its purpose and is recycling.
When the piles have been cleared, enjoy the sound of quiet!
