I wanted to start this topic because I'm very interested to know what kind of music do you listen to and who's is your favorite singer/singers, band etc. So I'm going to start it off with Sir Elton John. I have loved Elton John since I heard of him back in the 1970's! I loved him since he sang the song "Your Song" and I have followed him and his music ever since! He has made many albums in over thirty years and "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" is my favorite album. And he justed turned sixty years old! And his birthday is in the same month as mine! His birthday is March 25th and I also get a newspaper on his birthday to see his name on it and say "Happy Birthday Elton". I remember when he had the song out named "Bennie And The Jets" and I had always hope that he would appear on "Soul Train" and be the first rock star to ever be on the show because I thought that he was so cool and I loved his music! Even though I got critcized for listening to him, do you think that restlessfan gave a d@#$? HELL NO! He thought (my boyfriend and others) thought that I was out of my mind to see Elton John because he's not black and he's a English (as he put it) white artist. But I didn't give a d@#$ what he thought because I was going to watch Elton John on "Soul Train" because I love Elton and his music and I didn't give a d@#$ what he thought either so I stayed my black a@@ home and watch Elton John! It makes no difference to me what kind of music it is nor the color of the artists because regardless of who they are, if I like their music, I'm going to buy it! And black folks know that they loved that song by Elton John "Bennie And The Jets". I had hoped and believed that Elton John would appear on "Soul Train" and he DID! I will never forget the day and it was May 24, 1975! My boyfriend was mad as hell at me because I refuse to go out with him that night because I wanted to see Elton John on "Soul Train". Do you think that I cared that he was mad?
HELL NO! How many times do you get to see the legendary Sir Elton Hercules John on TV? And on "Soul Train" to top it off? He sanged "Philadelphia Freedom" and of course "Bennie And The Jets" and it was a moment in "Soul Train" history that I will never forget! So please write and let's see what kind of music you like and who's your favorite singer! I have some more but I really love Sir Elton John and his sexuality don't matter to me because I love him and he is one of the greatest singers there is to me.
