Quote clicquot1: Just heard that MAJOR HASAN was a SHRINK! Not that it excuses Major Hasan ~ he’s probably suffering from a major case of BURNOUT ~ and snapped. That’s one reason we are encouraged to have regular supervison and our own ‘shrink.’ I am most interested in hearing/reading what brought the Major to commit such an act of violence??? |

Hi - - well they are still trying to get all the FACTS - -even the news brief said they are still looking into it. The only thing they have confirmed is that they first reported the "suspect" Major Hasan had been shot and was dead, but he was only wounded and is still alive and in stable condition - - lots more to come. I will wait to hear it all when all the FACTS are out. As the news stations are saying - - "many details, still to be revealed." All I know is how sad can this be? Our soldiers, some of them preparing to be deployed, murdered on their OWN SOIL! |

Right - - CNN DOES want to know why they reported him dead and then said later he was still alive - - who knows? Like I said, speculation, assumptions, etc., etc., there is still much, much more to come out. By the way, that was sweet of you to post the phone number. |

According to NBC there are now 13 confirmed dead and 30 wounded and what was reported yesterday concerning NIDAL MALIK HASAN was not true. MAJOR HASAN was not one of the dead and apparently acted alone. |

As if going off to war, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan cleaned out his apartment, gave leftover frozen broccoli to one neighbor and called another to thank him for his friendship — common courtesies and routines of the departing soldier. Instead, authorities say, he went on the killing spree that left 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, dead. |

MAJOR HASAN has now been moved to FT. SAM HOUSTON'S hospital BAMC(BROOKE ARMY MEDICAL CENTER) located in SAN ANTONIO. BAMC is world-renowned for being a burn center and has many GULF-WAR veterans in the hospital. Up until 2001 FT. SAM HOUSTON was easily accessible to any citizen in SAN ANTONIO without going thru gates and had businesses actually right on post that were civilian owned but all that changed after 9/11. |

I just watched an interview with a soldier who was present during the shooting, and it was mentioned that he pushed a woman to the floor when it began. I am guessing there were many individual acts of heroism during the tragedy, considering the caliber of most of our military men and women. I hope the policewoman, Kimberly Munly, (not sure of spelling) who arrived so quickly on the scene and shot the gunman, receives recognition for her heroism. Who knows how many lives she saved? I hope that the US Government has an award for civilian bravery; she deserves it. |

This is really devestating news. My husband and I were at Fort Hood some years ago for an NBA officials camp. I had a friend who was also stationed there too. We're waiting to hear from her now. My prayers go to all of the families that were affected by this in any way! God Bless America! |

In case some of ya'll were wondering why MAJOR HASAN was moved it was because he was at a hospital in TEMPLE who although it was a trauma center was NOT a LEVEL ONE TRAUMA CENTER like BAMC is (BROOKE ARMY MEDICAL CENTER). BAMC is located on FT. SAM HOUSTON & had a major overhaul several years ago with a brand new building being built almost twice as large as the old one. BAMC is one of two LEVEL ONE TRAUMA CENTERS in SAN ANTONIO the other being WILFORD HALL. LEVEL ONE TRAUMA CENTERS not only operate on military personnel but also civilians who have extensive injuries (for example car wrecks or severe burns)who might mimick injuries inflicted in combat situations. |

Quote cats meow: i can't believe he survived 4 shots!!! i wouldn't be working too hard to save him Hope I don’t sound/read preachy stating: I’m not excusing what Major Hasan did Cats, and read where you enter, however; as ‘humankind we’ need to try having compassion for all beings ~ that includes the Major. “Metta = peace n compassion for all.” |
