This was the first time my family and I ever sat down together to watch the race. It was so exciting even for the children. "Congrats" to both winners.

I think it was awesome too! I didn't see the entire race but watched highlights of it. I haven't sat down to watch the entire NYC marathon since I was a little girl, don't know why?

Has anyone in here ever run a marathon, half-marathon, etc?

I've done a half marathon, 12K, 10K, etc, and let me tell you...there is no better feeling in the world than crossing that finish line, knowing that you FINISHED the race, seeing your family/friends congratulating you...and oh, you lived to tell everybody about the experience.

Hmmm...I'm still on the fence about running 26 MILES--that's kinda nutty to me, but who knows...maybe one day.

Ospreygirl: I've never ran and would probably drop dead ASAP because I'm a smoker. I could only imagine how exhilarating it must feel to cross that finish line or to even be able to run at all. "Congrats to you as well". One of my close friends ran last year and was so excited to cross the finish line and I was so proud of her. I just love to walk and maybe should try one of the walking marathons.

Thank you, CB. You know, there are several charity organizations that have walking marathons out there...you might find that as you go through training, you won't be smoking as much.

LOL...the internet has just about everything these days...you'll never guess what website I found today--

Geez...not even something as celebratory as winning a marathon can escape the bull headed racism of some people:

CNBC reporter: Marathon winner "can't count as American"

CNBC's Darren Rovell has some funny ideas about what it means to be an American.

Over the weekend, Meb Keflezighi became the first American to win the New York City Marathon since 1982. But CNBC's Darren Rovell isn't impressed. Darren Rovell doesn't think Keflezighi is really an American.
