This thread was made with Cats Meow in mind..since Cats inquired many times who took the time to watch this program...well I did several times to see what she is talking about ....and in it I can see why a "left" would be attracted....but really I see her as nothing different than some of those on FOX news that have their own agenda's. She bashes the "right" as much if not more than the Fox guys do to the left.

I watched to get information and really all I got was bashing the republicans...and seriously I think thats the reason for her show..to compete with Fox line-up.

The daytime FOX news gives the news..the nighttime programs starting with Beck, O'Reilly and Hannity are opinion based pograms..just like Maddow and Dave Matthews and Keith Oberman are all opinion based shows that are competing for ratings....so the fact that O'Reilly is leading the pack is something to consider....MORE ARE WATCHING HIM... does that make him right? Maybe not, but one has to think ..why is he the highest in the ratings?

Not meant to start any political fight...just my observation ..

I watch Rachel from time to time. The thing I like about the commentators on MSNBC is that they back their commentaries with facts. They and their staff research and cite chapter and verse all the back ups to their claims. I trust their commentaries as opposed to some on another channel who cite the most outrageous 'facts' without backing up the truth to their claims. Rachel makes me nervous sometimes tho - she talks too fast and gets her tongue twisted all the time, and giggles too much. But, so what...she is a brilliant lady and I can get past that because she is fearless in presenting her material.

I love TRMS and think she is an awesome host--I like intellegent people with quick wit. I greatly appreciate, as someone mentioned earlier, that she and her staff research and show facts to back up their stories. That is greatly appreciated! Initially, she was kinda hard to look at at first because it seemed she came off too strong, but as I listened and watched more, I appreciate her ability to report truthfully, no matter how many 13-letter words fall from her lips in a second...lol...the only cringe worthy thing I don't like is the awkward pass-off when Keith's show ends and he introduces Rachel's show--they're good sports about it though.

I don't agree that Rachel and Keith are like anything on Faux News. Not all liberals or Dem leaning lefties bow down and worship at the altar of Obama...lol...if you catch some of their stories do highlight White House issues...but with so much Repub and lunatic fringe news out there, it just appears that all topics lean extremely one way...

I've only watched it once, so my opinion can't be worth much, but here was my take. I watched a clip from one of you guy's links from some old thread, I don't even remember the topic. You guys are right, she did present facts. My problem was that she was presenting ones previously selected to suit the left side of the story. I can remember thinking, where are the other facts? If you reported the other facts, this would look very different. I also didn't like her personality, always making fun of people. But I don't watch Fox, so I can't say I had any comparisons.

P.S. I don't get my news from Fox, so the left-out facts I was looking for could have easily been reported on by her, IMO.

To me, facts are facts - they have no gender, or politics, left or right. Reporting facts is what the public wants and needs and I believe there is more 'fact' reporting on most of what Fox Noise calls the liberal media than one will ever be able to trust as valid when coming from FOX Noise themselves.

Cats, I said I'd watch this show and I did. As far as a TV host, she's articulate and pretty witty. However, I agree with Re1 that her show clearly has as much a "left" slant as Hannity or O'Reilly is accused of having on the "right".

I can understand why you like Rachel Maddow, but I have to argue that Hannity always has people on both sides of an argument on his Great American Panel segments. In the two segments I watched of Rachel Maddow's show I didn't see any opinion from the right.

i think the reason for that is she is always pointing out the distortions for some of the fox shows, you are definitely in the minority of people on the right, most take what o'reily, hannity, and beck say as facts, they are not willing to believe someone that can prove they are opinions, which are usually completely false, i have never once heard anyone quote sheppard smith, and again this is my opinion, not worth arguing about, gets us know where

Just wanted to point out briefly that Rachel and her staff do contact the people/organization that are being reported on to appear on her show, and most times they don't respond back or just send her a statement. She has had people of opposing views on her show, and those interviews are like July 4th fireworks--very informative and highly entertaining.
