Quote Tammer: It's totally distasteful, why do we need to dress our children to "mock" ANYONE? As another poster pointed out, I bet there were plenty of our ancestors that got to our countries illegally. I can just bet that all of us have done several things that are illegal, that is not a reason to condone this kind of crud. That is a stupid way to teach a child right from wrong..here's a thought, how about telling them about the illegal immigrants and giving them the right info? Not have them parade around the streets on a fun night to poke fun at people. I think it is in poor taste myself. I think this lowers oneself if a person thinks this sort of thing is ok. Just my opinion. It's making fun of people that are less fortunate - a group of people and a race in particular. Not just one person. I am not saying I don't think our borders should be tightened down alot more....Nothing to do with that. However making fun of people for being desperate to escape poverty in hopes of a better future just seems so wrong to me. Sad actually. I am glad I am person that could never condone such a thing. What is next? Muslim costumes with fake bombs stapped to them? It truly is the same mentality. It sends out a message of hate to a particular group of people. |

ITA, with both you and Tammer, great posts! Would like to add it also racially profiled Mexicans and Latinos as illegals. Many Mexicans, and other Latinos are legal citizens of this of this country, both naturalized and by birth! |

I agreee, what's next little Osama's at our doors? What happened to the days when people dressed their kids in cute or scary costumes that did not degrade anyone? That was what Halloween was all about. I remember how the older people loved to see the cute little kids looking like ghosts and gobblins when they came to their doors. |

EXACTLY, Bailey - - and that is why I said, and people didn't get it, that this stupid and immature, degrading costume came with a GREEN CARD - - which made it even MORE STUPID - - you are not illegal if you have a green card!! HELLO!!!!! |

The green card is issued to ANY foreign visitor coming into the country to work. Its not specific to any country or region. An Italian or Irish resident could have a green card. |

Yes, I know. I think the whole term "alien" is offensive to anyone from anywhere if it applies to their non-citizenship status. So, I believe this is what many are upset about. |

I was confused - someone mentioned it was offensive to Mexicans and Latino's. I didn't understand the connection. |
