I was just wathcing an episode of "Everyone Loves Ray" and at the end, Marie..Rays mom said "it's the day after Christmas time to return gifts that you didn't want"

I was just curious does anyone here return gifts that were bought for you? Also do you buy gifts that may not be so thoughtful ..you know just to have someone have something to open?

Maybe because it's snowing here *way too soon BTW* But it got me thinking ... LOL

I don't think its too early- I have already started decorating my house for Christmas- I have returned gifts that have been given to me if they have been something I will not use- my philosophy about gift giving has always been-if I give someone something they don't like or won't use-then please, please return it for something they do like or will use-it does not hurt my feelings one bit -but to see it sit never used or worn does bug me--gift cards are great for preventing this sort of thing- but I use them only as a last resort- I wish we had some snow

I try to pay attention to people throughout the year. One friend really loves my butter keeper (the type that sits on the counter, stays soft, but doesn't go rancid. So, that's what she's getting. Another is planning a trip to Europe next year and has never been there, so doesn't know alot about how to go about seeing or traveling in the countries. I'm ordering for her, a full DVD set of Rick Steves travelogues. He is the foremost authority on foreign travel and all the sites, prices and best deals. (Wish I was going with her)! So, to make a long story short, I just listen to their casual comments and take notes. Oh, I also have a friend who is an old radio shows buff, so I go to http://www.otrcat.com/index.php and order MP3s of old shows. I enjoy them myself. If you go to that site, you can get lots of sample shows to listen to without buying anything.

I dont think its too soon.... if i had the money, i would start shopping early.... but the problem is where do i keep everything.... guess you can wrap and just put in a corner or closet, until you put up the tree, and then transfer....

sometimes i dont think of the gift, especially if its last minute, so i just get something for them to open...

i was thinking of getting a few snuggies like they have on tv , for my sister, mom, and girls... i want one too.... i have seen some at Fred's, but dont know if they are as good... this year i would like to be finished , so i can enjoy Dec, instead of it being stressful...

i have returned gifts, but mostly if it was a clothing item... other things i just keep...
