Well, since the SSA "officially" announced those of us on social security would not be receiving any COLA next year, looks like our president is trying to help us out with that. I certainly hope this is passed. It is very difficult to exist on social security without working. I, personally, have to work part-time and will probably never know what "the golden years" means! |

Is it just for Seniors, or all that get a social sec check |

Quote chychy65: Is it just for Seniors, or all that get a social sec check It will be for seniors, veterans, retired railroad workers and people with disabilities. |

Quote chychy65: Is it just for Seniors, or all that get a social sec check So far it just says, seniors and Obama’s proposal is similar to several bills in Congress. The $250 payments would also go to those receiving veterans’ benefits, disability benefits, railroad retirees and retired public employees who don’t receive Social Security. Recipients would be limited to one payment, even if they qualified for more. |

Puddy--the govt sent seniors specifically a $250 payment back in February as part of the economic stimulus bill. This second $250 is geared to SSA recipients including seniors because there will not be a COLA increase in 2010. Pres. Obama is trying to get the second payment approved to make up for the lack of cost of living increase. |

Puddy, I'm not clear if you know what I was saying-- |

Quote OspreyGirl: Puddy, I'm not clear if you know what I was saying-- The only common thing between the payment in Feb and hopefully the next payment in 2010 is the amount--$250. The first payment was for seniors only. The second proposed payment is for Social Security recipients including seniors and the others that I listed. Can you confirm that you understand this? If you do, I don't need to post further. Yes - - Puddy understands! However, a friend of mine is on disability (and is 55 years old) and he got the first $250, so in my estimation it was for disabled also. Right? |

I'd like to see them do morre to help the special needs as well. I work for an agengy thet assists people with special disabilities in everyday life. I've been there about 4 years and in that time ourstate has continuosly taken away funds from them. It's all sad!!(Especially when you know how this state dealt with it's "special people"! It's all quite sick!! |
