Yesterday, my mama found 2 kittens under the bush hog of her tractor. They were so young that their eyes hadn't opened and none of the neighbors had a cat that wasn't either male or spayed so we took the kittens b/c when mom moved the tractor it would have left the kittens exposed to the livestock. We got some milk re placer and are trying to feed them, but one has fleas and Idk what to do for that, with them being sooooooo young. Any suggestions? |

He will offer you excellant advice. When calling him be sure to ask him about bathing the newly born kittens and if he knows of any lactating female cat who has lost her baby kitties or has room for two more. i would also put up signs about the found kitties and call all local animal shelters about possible new mothers. Finding a surrogate would be the best bet. GOOD LUCK........................................ |

It will give them a very serious bellyache and diarrah. Go to a feed store and get a special blend of milk for them. Give them a good bath and brushing to get rid of fleas. They are too young for any of the commercial flea treatments. Good idea Clicquot had about trying to find a lactating mother cat to adopt them. Little kittens like the feeling and motion of being licked and cleaned by their mom - that encourages bowel and urinitating movements, so get a wet cloth and massage them all over and get them kind of wet in the process. My grown cats all loved this just before time to brush them.

Quote cats meow: i couldn't access the site, said they were having problems if the vet can't help you with a mom cat, call your animal rescue places, we have friends that foster, mamas and kittens, sometimes they bring in extra kittens that have no mama, the babies have their eyes closed so they are very very young thank goodness you rescued them grits The site came up for me again - - don't know what problem you had. I know we can't cut and paste, but it does give information about what Eppy and Cal said - - most importantly regarding encouraging bowel and urinitating movements. And NOT giving them milk and NOT putting any flea medication on them. If you can get access to a flea comb, that would be perfect for them. It sounds like you are already trying to fee them with the milk replacer. Do you have little bottle? PLEASE keep us abreast of how they are doing, grits. I have been doing this all my life, but have had to stop. I am SOOOOOO glad that you don't live in the same town, because I know what I would want to do!!!! |

Also, grits - - I have been a member of a cat site for many years and it is absolutely wonderful. You can get all the information you need on ANYTHING! They even have vets who come on. Try it. |

One is fighting the bottle and the other loves it. |

That is great news!!! For the little one who is fighting the bottle - - try putting a little on your pinkie finger and see if kitty will just lick it at first! You have probably already done that! |
