This thread is being opened in fairness to the Republican and Democratic no bash threads. I hope that by having Liberal and Independent no bash threads that it will help to decrease the amount of political arguments and tension on the boards. |

Quote pipposprincess: since a majority of americans seem to be against the govt health care reform..... why dont they change the laws and allow people from different states to purchase their own health care from another state.... i could buy health insurance from oklahoma for 1/4 of wh I actually posted this same thing in the healthcare thread a while back. You're absolutely right. That/tort reform would go a long way! Opening it up across states would make the real competition. |

Just wanted to add that the majority of Americans, over 64% support some form of healthcare reform, as well as a public option. |

i respectfully disagree baileysmommy if i had 3/4 of my healtcare premiums as disposable income, i would be spending it. that would stimulate the economy and that would lead to more jobs and enable more employers to offer health insurance. its a win win |

I don't see how your spending money in NY would help someone in Detroit, who works part-time because they can not afford child-care, and their employer does not cover them because they are part-time, (and in fact all the employees at that company are part-time in order for them not to provide employee health insurance) can only afford a plan with a premium of $120 per month. This would give them a health insurance plan with a $35 co-pay for Doctors visits, $30 prescription co-pays, $150 co-pay for Emergency Room care, and a $17,000 deductible for hospital coverage. How does your buying insurance in Oklahoma help that person? Now if we had real Reform that would 1)Force Health Insurance companies to provide affordable 100% coverage for Adults and their children, and if they became ill they would not be denied service because three years before they purchased that insurance they had a case of severe acne, so they are denied coverage for that illness because the health insurance company can claim they had a pre-existing condition that they did not disclose; even though acne had nothing to do with the heart surgery they now need. What if the government reformed health care so that DOCTORS decided what care a patient should recieve instead of a clerk at a health insurance company, who gets a bonus for every claim they deny? What if reform controlled the prices of drugs, and took 1/10 of the millitary budget to fund research for drugs and disease? And since 57% of Americans now support a public option, what if the government offered Medicaid to any citizen who wished to have that coverage instead of from a private health insurance company? To me THAT would be a win-win situation! |

i have a friend, have know her since 5th grade, she is an attorney in virginia, she is acquainted with another attorney who works for an insurance company, her sole purpose is to find ways to deny coverage for at risk people, she makes $1500 an hour, i am thinking there must be a lot of money to be made by not covering some individuals |

Just want to clarify about the site I was cutting and pasting from, Democracy Now. They consider themselves to be people owned media, it states right on their site that anyone is free to take their headlines and news stories... You can check out the site to verify @ democracynow.org. I'll wait for your reply before posting from that site again, in the manner that I have been. Cheers! |
