Quote clicquot1: This is one of the MOST ASININE STATEMENT I have ever heard. The NFL OWNERS did NOT want LIMBAUGH because of the POOR PUBLICITY that would NEGATIVELY affect ticket sales, their bottom line, and sales of sports related items for their teams. It was a decision to do with the BOTTOM LINE not POLITICS. Most NFL owners are conservative but they do care about making money. A large percentage of both the players who work for the NFL and ticket holders were insulted by a potential "owner" who was part of a group of investors. LIMBAUGH was askled by the group after one of the owners came out and said he would NOT approve of their group. The investors wanting to save their deal asked him to leave.

When did the NFL get a moral compass? When they let Michael Vick back into the leage, and gave so many other athletes slaps on the wrist for breaking the law, they gave up the right to cast stones. If they truly had some sort of moral agenda, then they would set higher standards for those egotistical primadonna thugs that they call football players. It makes me sick to see athletes behaving badly when they know young kids look up to them. I'm not saying all athletes are bad, because so many of them are very charitable and outstanding role models, but the NFL should impose much much stricter rules for behavior. Until that happens, they are no right to cast judgment on Rush.

Exactly!!! They should have locked MV up and thrown the keys far away for what he did to those poor defenseless animals- is there anything, ANYTHING more DIABOLICAL than
what he did??? and now here he is back all is forgiven?? what kind of world is this?

Not saying that the NFL has a MORAL COMPASS but I am saying and have always stated that I didn't think the owners would approve of him being one of the owners(now they don't have to). The NFL is a business and they are concerned about the BOTTOM LINE and making money. That is why these players that have gotten away with venhicular manslaughter and other crimes are allowed to play(as long as they beat the rap or get their community service or whatever they will play because they are STAR ATHELETES and the fans want to see them. The fans don't pay to see the owners play but if the owners are "too" controversial" it will affect sales. Just ask MARGE SCHOTZ of the CINCINNATI REDS! And it is funny that you mention MICHAEL VICK because as HORRIFIC of a thing that he was accused of doing and he did spend time in jail for his part of the dog-figthing deaths and scheme(but if you ask me it wasn't enough)he is really a NON-ISSUE because he is at best a third-string QB now with the EAGLES. DONOVAN McNABB is back after missing 2 games and back in a big way and has been re-establishing himself as the EAGLES QB. Although I have always personally thought he was an inconsistent QB, BRILLANT one game and lackluster the next. The second string QB(KEVIN KOLB)has thrown MORE than 300 yards in each of his first 2 career starts which is something that NO other NFL passer has ever done before. It looks like he will be the future QB for the PHILLY EAGLES when McNABB either retires, is traded, or becomes second string. What will happen to VICK? Who knows but he hasn't really lived up to thehype/controversey. as far as PLAXICO BURRESS, I believe he is going to jail for federal gun charges. I could be wrong about PLAXICO, and after he serves his time he will be welcomed back I'm sure by who I don't know BUT he is a SUPER BOWL SUPERSTAR and someone will want him. Not saying it's right how the superstar spoiled athletes who committ crimes are treated but as long as fans want to see the superstars don't see it changing. There are many teams that do NOT TOLERATE this type of behavior of their stars and fans consider them boring, won't watch them, or they are the good guys and no razzle dazzle. Take the SAN ANTONIO SPURS for examples all role models for kids, all fine upstanding individuals, church-going, community involved men who care about giving back to the community but fans even though they have won 4 championships in 10 years say they're boring because they are the good guys and would much rather watch another team. Fans are fickle! Why do people root for the villians in movies or soap operas? Most atheletes are GOOD, DECENT, HARD-WORKING, CARING individuals and it is the actions of a few that give rise to casting dispurtions on the many.

You are right, Michael Vick did his time and got out of jail, but that doesn't mean he should be allowed back into the NFL. He should have to go look for another job just like every other ex-con. A lot of auto workers, steel workers and factory workers had to find jobs in other fields...Vick can do it too. Yes, Plaxico Burress is in jail and had his weepy goodbye with his daughter. When he does his time he should be allowed to find another job - OUTSIDE of the NFL. As long as we still have these villains that break the law, there will always be fans who think they are cool. So why not REMOVE them from the NFL and make sure that the only role models are law-abiding citizens who are exceptional athletes?

Well, I would say that when you, I , gommie, and cats ALL become owners than we could do WHATEVER the HECK we wanted as far as who was on our own team but otherwise it's not up to us! That being said I can't STAND MICHAEL VICK and what he did especially to poor defenseless dogs. My husband and I have no children and consider our dogs our "dog-children" so his crime was particularly loathsome to me. PLAXICO was STUPID and shot himself and thankfully NO ONE ELSE was hurt but I do believe in the SECOND AMENDMENT, just not a DISTORTION of it. I do not think that a person should be ALLOWED to carry a gun anywher near where a politician is speaking especially the PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES whichever party he is a member of. In TEXAS we have the concealed gun law where as long as one takes a course then they can carry a concealed weapon WITH THE PERMIT that is furnished by the STATE if you pass the course(which is about safety primarily & cannot be a convicted felon, I believe)but there are stipulation like NOT into any place that serves alcohol, or schools as two examples.

CAPITALISM at it's truest form! They make the SALARY that the MARKET bares. Each team shares in the T.V. rights of their team, the advertising monies, the licensing agreement of the TEAMS BRAND, the monies from their chearleaders. The teams that sell their BRAND the BEST are the TEAMS that afford the BEST PLAYERS, even with the SALARY CAPS because there is a "way" around the caps. Look at JERRY JONES he bought the DALLAS COWBOYS for less than 250 MILLION(I think) and he parlayed the COWBOYS BRAND into be worth more than any other NFL team over 1.5 BILLION DOLLARS and contrast the worst team the RAIDERS who are worth about 1/3 that much. PRO SPORTS is big BUSINESS!

Exactly!! their worry about controversy has its double standard at play here- The point is MV should not have been admitted back-EVER- and there is no amount of time he could have served, much less the paltry,(what was it two years) time served for the despicable inhumane torture he committed against those poor animals-he is a disgusting and poor excuse for a human being--

Well, on a lighter note - - if Rush had been allowed to be part owner in the Rams, or any other team, for that matter, wouldn't it be a disadvantage - - because any opposing team would know that an overwhelming amount of the plays in the playbook would be to the far right??

I agree!!-we have both human and four legged and they are all our kids-I can't begin to imagine what kind of evil mind it takes to do the things MV did to those poor animals -

In California I think the right to carry a concealed weapon is decided by local law enforcement-

i read yesterday, MV was asked if he wanted to see his dogs, from a distance, 10 of them have been saved, i guess they are all at the same facility, MV declined, animal rights activists said the first step to recovery is viewing animals the way they should be treated, in my opinion, MV failed his first test
