Quote cats meow: greek, have you ever read the rainbow bridge? before you google it, get some kleenex, we framed it and it is on one of our walls, i usually give it to a friend when they lose their baby, i will be interested to see what you think of the book Is it the one thread that is titled coping with the death of a pet? If it is I read it, and was ad when i read it but was moved. Because it gives you a different perspective on the animal after it's gone, and how even though the spirit has left the body, the animal is still in spirit. I loved that because I shared it with a friend after she lost her cat rainbow!

Quote gommie: I don't have cats- but I have dogs, and I do home cook their food- I have for many years- buy all the ingredients at the grocery store- Hi Gommie, how do you find that has made a difference in your dog's health. Do you find it expensive to do this, and is it time consuming. as I said I'm planning to start that way when I get this book. It seems to be good, and has educating things in it.

Hi GG- The thing with my pets is they are all rescues who came to me with already compromised immune systems--I have been homecooking since '97- I don't feed commercial dog food so I can't truthfully say I have noticed a difference healthwise- I just think that they are much better off eating what we eat-I add supplements- I think commercial dog food is more expensive than what I make--- sorry gg- my keyboard has gone crazy- it won't type most of the letters-- 'll be back once I figure out what is going on-- (using my hubbys now and he does frown when I do that) bbl |

Quote gommie: You are probably doing a postive thing for your dogs. I'm excited about making my cat his own food. I feel that I could make him stronger, healthier. IA commerical food is not the greatest and can get costly. The article I read did attack that issue, and i found it quite disturbing. What kind of dogs do you own? To tell you from my opinion having your animals with already compromised immune systems I think you are doing them a world of justice. Sometimes i tend to think the more you do for the animal, the better their chances of a long life. But I feel a little opposite now. Just like with us less is more. The most important thing is we love them, and enjoy them in the moment! if your hubby gives you a hard time about using his computer, just tell him what is his is your, and vice versa.

Quote gommie: That's a wonderful thing you did for your dogs. with the right people and their diet, they are remarkable at rallying. I sounds like you've done the best you can with your dogs, and they sound well cared for and loved. Thanks for the recommendation. I will have a look at it. Yes I do mean that works both ways, that is the reasonong I use when I need to borrow or use something of my husband's. It works, and it's tru. LOL

Quote cats meow: we have lost a few cats to kidney disease, usually occurs in older cats but we did have a couple that were only 7, i have to say, i am not convinced this guy is on the level, so many things are sold today just to make a buck, and all those bonus books make it sound fishy, guess $37 plus shipping, which i am sure you will have to pay on all three books, wonder what the final bill will be hopefully some other animal lovers will chime in Cats is right- another thing you might do is go to yahoo and do a search for for 'cat' groups- these are message boards much like this one where cat owners post about their pets- new methods of feeding etc- anything to do with cats-- |
