Quote clicquot1:
Quote lovesit: I am keeping track of all the celebs who are defending this piece, and I will never be giving them my money again. For example, Steven Spielberg? No more. Easy as pie for me. If I was internet savvy, I would start a website listing all these other pieces who are defending this...insert worst name here.
I'm not one to boycott, but when someone's freedom is infringed on, when they cannot even control who does what to their own body...IDK, I think this warrants a boycott.

Some that I remember are as follows:HARRISON FORD, PETER BOGDONIVICH,DAVID LYNCH, STEVEN SPIELBERG, WHOOPI GOLDBERG, BARBARA WALTERS(I think), and of course WOODY ALLEN!

Also DEBRA WINGER (Officer and a Gentlemen) she held a press conference defending this brilliant man.....what if he raped her or her daughter, sister, neighbor..would she be still defending this Brilliant man? Where is the sympathy for the girl and the outrage toward the rapist? What a messed up world we live in..

ITA! A messed up world indeed. I wouldn't watch her in a movie either. I think some of these people just hope he will give them a role in one of his movies. I don't care how BRILLIANT this man is as a director, that has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CASE and neither does his wife getting killed by the crazy CHARLES MASON followers or the fact that his family died in the HOLOCAUST!

Well I think that this wasn't the first time he did this..she was a young girl looking to be discovered and he took advantage of that...SHE WAS 13 for Gods sake...it is well known about directors/producers having casting couches..but by supplying her with alcohol and drugs and raping her....why do some think he's the best I have no idea!

ITA he has done this before and CATS MEOW believes this also. It is a very sad time in our history when society does NOT PROTECT it's children and wants to let a monster like this get off scott free because he is a BRILLANT DIRECTOR! This is DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!JMO!

This may not be popular sentiment on here, but here goes...the victim has forgiven Polanski and received a settlement from him...let France get him back and call this whole thing a done deal. Putting him in jail now after he and the victim have moved on just seems like a waste to taxpayer money. I understand what he did was wrong and disgusting, no question. What I'm saying is IMO, this whole matter will probably blow over, and some of us will just have to deal with our disgust and anger about it...he probably won't do jail time, but if he does, it won't be for long--possibly served overseas or one of our Club Fed facilities due to Polanski being a high profile director.

Just my IMO...again, not excusing his behavior, but just looking at the reality that nothing major will probably be done to him...time will tell.

I agree with you! You are right it is not a popular thought but those are my sentiments exactly!

Not trying to argue, I think we all feel that he is a dispicable person for what he did.

I have to say taxpayer's money have been at work for the 32 yrs already that he's been running from the crime. Although the girl forgave and settled, doesn't negate that a crime was committed. A crime that deserves punishment.

On another note, he should be stripped of his previous awards after the crime.

Look at Pete Rose..he was stripped of his Hall Of Fame status and wasn't allowed to coach or be involved in baseball again. He was literally baned from baseball. A harse punishment, but deserved because he broke the law and crimes are punishable. Just because Polanski ran from the law and it took 32 years to finally arrest him ..doesn't make the crime go away.

If there is going to be a light sentence, I hope at the very least that people stop awarding him with outstanding awards. His character is far from outstanding, and shouldn't be rewarded IMO. If gambling on baseball is a harsher crime than rape..we must reconsider our laws.

Hollywood justice works differently than what the average Joe gets...so no awards will be stripped from him, and like I said earlier, he won't be getting too harsh of a punishment, if any at all...

I don't want to cast dispersions on pigs, but in my opinion, he is a PIG! Once a pig, always a pig. This pig would have been in the slammer years ago if he hadn't high-tailed it out of the country. The Birdman of Alcatraz was a talented man as well, but he deserved to be in prision. Talent has nothing to do with being a vile, repugnant human being.

Well said, EPPY! Again, I will say this so called "man" spit on the LAWS of the UNITED STATES when he jumped bail and snuck out of this country like a thief in the middle of the night rather than take his punishment for his crimes!

Oh, wow am I supposed to feel sorry for this dispicable person who DRUGGED(qualudes)and gave ALCOHOL(champagne)to a MINOR CHILD(13 years old)and RAPED her all the while trying to lead her to believe that he was "helping" her to start a career. Are we just supposed to believe that he was auditioning a CHILD on the casting couch! He is disgusting and I hope he rots! And I will NEVER look at WHOOPI GOLDBERG the same(used to love, love, love, love, love, love her)especially when she took up for him and said "it wasn't RAPE,RAPE! She said NO, she was UNDERAGE, was given DRUGS & ALCOHOL, she said NO, she was UNDERAGE, she said NO! What PART of that scenario is NOT RAPE? Oh, she WASN'T beaten up so it wasn't RAPE? Give me a BREAK? So it wasn't RAPE when all those PRIESTS had SEX with UNDERAGE CHILDREN? Give me a BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
