Quote gommie: Quote SassyFrass: I think the "victim" should have some say. It was between the two of them, and I think as long as she is not being blackmailed or paid off, her opinion on the matter is the MOST important. If it ever worked that way it doesn't anymore-like domestic abuse -if the abusee calls the cops and the abuser is arrested the abusee can no longer unfile charges- the d.a. takes over-- I get that...and I agree. I am saying that this happened 32 years ago and obviously he has stayed away from his victim and they have settled this between them. I think he has a mental illness and needs help more than anything. I am not going to justify his actions, but I feel sorry for him. |

did that happened after his wife was murdered? Grief can do weird things to a person, things you would never think them capable of. |

The thing that bothers me about this is the amount of time, effort and money being put into this case now. I mean this 32 year old case is getting more attention and work done on it than the ones happening right now. I say sure bring him back but try getting this envolved with the women and children that are currently going through this. imo they are more important than this old case and should be top priority. |

It should NOT matter how long it has been or how much money is being spent because this man DRUGGED(qualludes)and RAPED a THIRTEEN YEAR OLD CHILD. Speaking as someone who had a family member sexually molested, anytime a CHILD is sexually molested(RAPED) whether he or she is a baby, toddler, or teenager that is a TRAGEDY and many children are affected for years after that. RAPE is rape whether a man or woman is the victim and it should NOT matter how old the victim is or if drugs or alcohol is involved because the RAPE still occured. A woman does NOT "ask" for it because she is dressed in a sexually provactive manner just like she does NOT "ask" for it if she is THIRTEEN and is having her photos taken by a THIRTY some year old man who happens to be a HOLLYWOOD director. At one time it was common practise to BLAME the victim of a rape. I would like to think the U.S. has gotten past that. In some countries in the world it is STILL common to blame the victime(mostly women) and it is considered a "shame" upon the family and so the "family" commits an HONOR KILLING. The honor killing which is committed by the male members of the family can be for a variety of reasons such as marrying someone not of their faith, wearing inappropriate clothing, sex outside of marriage or besides one's husband to name just a few. Did the young lady use poor judgement by going to the house and having her photos taken? She sure did but please remember she was ONLY THIRTEEN. The court is ALSO interested in this case because RP skipped bail and left the country illegally and became a citizen of FRANCE where he couldn't be extradited. Just because the crime happened over thirty years ago does NOT negate the crime of RAPE. The rape was still committed. Yes, maybe GRIEF drove him to it BUT he STILL DID the RAPE and if he uses that defense he might as well just use the TWINKY DEFENSE. |

He should be punished - his celebrity doesn't make him exempt from the law (though many celebrities believe laws don't apply to them). If he would have faced his crimes like a man, this would have been behind him already. |

Isn't there a statue of limitations? Probably not. What is criminal is our Justice System. It dropped the ball for 32 years and now wants to punish Roman. Problem is they are punishing the victim too. In order for him to be convicted she will have to relive this tale and testify when she clearly does not want to. Don't blame her one bit. Hold our legal eagles responsible for dereliction of duty and put them on trial. Don't they have enough dangerous terrorists to capture? Senseless and stupid waste of taxpayer dollars. |

He raped a young girl. And he got away with it for many years. He may be famous but justice should still be served. He raped a young girl after he drugged her up. It was premeditated. He should pay the full penalty for the crime. |

His "talent" in the film industry has no bearing on his crime that was committed. I think these guys just think he could probably get them a part. Oh, and have you seen some of the celebrities that are defending him? WOODY ALLEN is one. Enough said because most of us know about his sorry ole self and young girls. |

I heard from an attorney that there is no statute of limitations because he fled. From the time he left the country, his conviction will remain open until his sentence is completed. Of course now there will be additional charges added because he ran away like the dog that he is... (sorry, I mean no offense to dogs...) |

I agree with what someone else said...if he wasn't running/hiding like the coward he is for 32 years and took the punishmentback then..this would have been all done with by now. |

Who really knows if this is true or not but many movies & t.v. programs hint that in prison the convicted have their "own" set of rules and consider CHILD MOLESTERS(and to me that is what he is because he plied a child w/champagne & ludes & the sodomized her all the while she was saying NO!)the very lowest form of criminal. The criminals believe in giving the child molester exactly what was given to the child, I guess their own form of justice. Don't know if this true or not. |

He was found guilty of raping a 13 year old. He fled because he thought he would have to do serious time for it! Hardly anyone in Hollywood at that time, did serious time for their criminal behavior! He won't be in prison long, anyway! I think this is a wake up call to his continuing arrogant behavior. |
