If you read above you will see that what was done for Reagan was WAY more intense than this. His entire funeral was shown to students and photos of this was in the news paper and on tv. He was praised as being a hero and they sang the song "HERO" to him. Why were there not parents flipping out then. And if you read above you will see that kids from 3 states were flown to the White House to sing praises to Bush and they named him in the song. Many photos where taken and the press was all over it. Once again I ask why did the people who disliked Bush and Reagan (and there was many) WHY did they not wig out. imo it has to be political. Why else is it only a Dem who catches hell for this. Why were you not mad about this when the shoe was on the Republican foot. Now that question answers itself. Tell me if Obama died tomorrow what would you do if the schools showed the funeral in class and let them sing hero to him. What if they loaded up kids and flew them to the White House to sing to Obama. And all these pictures where placed everywhere even on the net. So if it was good for Rep presidents why not now? If there is no bias then what is the difference. Just think if people had flipped out over Reagans hero song. WHY is this only a problem with Obama when it has been done and to a larger degree to the Republican presidents. Would you allow your child to watch a funeral for Obama? They watched Reagans and no parents where notified! Would you let them sing that Obama was there hero? If not then why did the Dems not care when it was done to rep but it is treated like a crime now????? My problem is that this is on the internet and the parents were never notified( a fact most of you seem to be avoiding?)! That is the part that most concerns me as a parent to young children! And by the way watching a funeral of a president is much different then what I saw in this video! In this video the children were repeating things that their teachers had tought them instead of WATCHING!!! The other kids where on the internet too! And Bush's song was NOT a funeral and was taught to them by their teachers. Bush is not dead. The internet was around when Reagan died too and it is on there. I would like to have an absolute honest answer to these questions if you don't mind. I am not being sarcastic but would seriously love to know. If the kids sang this song to the president we had before 01/20/09 would you still be so angry? Would you be in this thread condemning the schools and teachers for singing to Bush? Would you be on here posting about how terrible it was to sing to Bush? Would you be saying that you were going to pull your kids out of school because they sang a song to Bush? Them singing to Bush IS on the internet and there was no permission slips required. Are you saying that it was a terrible thing they did for Bush? Would you be here telling how very wrong it was and condem Bush to hell and back like Obama has been because of it? Would you still be telling us all how wrong it is? If Obama died would you let your kids watch the funeral at school without having to get permission as was done for Reagan? Would it be ok if the kids sang that Obama was their "HERO" like they did for Reagan. Would you say it was ok because it was a funeral and funerals are different? Would you condemn the teachers for showing the funeral like you are Obama? Can you honestly answer yes to these? If Obama's funeral where on the tv say tomorrow are you actually saying that you would not be mad and that it is ok for the schools to show it and sing that he is their hero? Seriously would you do that tomorrow? |

I have no problem with my kids singing the song on page 1 which I did learn in school. The one we r talking about now though hell no! When he has proven all of the things they are teaching these kids he's gonna do, then I might not mind. But as of now it's all wishfull thinking!! 2 of my chlidren are young so if I didn't let them go to their G grammas funeral, why would I let them watch one on tv? For my older child, it would be up to him (just like it was for my g grammas). I think it's a bit early to push politics on kids. I remember that I knew almost nothing (except what we learned in social studies and civics) about all aspects of gov. When I was in 7th grade was when I first started to listen. I remeber that whoever ran against the first Bush that was the one I wanted.I remember next wanting Clinton to win and when the other Bush entered I wanted Gore and felt as most did that he was cheated. Up until the last election I voted Democrat. I voted for Mcain because imo he was/is more experienced and has a military background behind him.(I used no other thought process) |

I wasn't talking about Bush! I was saying what you started to say which is Obama has only been in office less than a year it's a bit early to call him a hero and as for Bush he imo is definitley not a hero!! |

Well Thanks am I one of those Sickos you were reffering to? because I don't want my kids faces plastered on the internet w/out my permission? Last time I checked a good parent asks questions and puts their childs best intersests ahead of their own? in 4 years I will say if he has accomplished what he set out to and if my kids want to sing for him so be it!! I like my kids to think for themselves not have info shoved down their throats!! |

No they go to public school. and CCD on Sunday. Their school is A+!! Im on the pto , they don't push things on the kids. When O had that school speech a wlile back they played it for them over the intercom(after calling and leaving phone msg. to make sure it was okay. My kids while it was on in their classrooms are 8 and 9, so they were talking to their friends and reading. My older son in *th grade they had a special classroom for the kids that wante to see it. My son opted no on that one(he's even been to one of the tea parties with his Grandma, so he was all set with it and read a book instead. If I could afford Catholic school for my kids though they would be their in a heart beat! Just the uniforms alone(imo) are worth it!! |
