They sure can!! I guess one way we could look at things now is that more people are paying attention to what is happening. Which is good because the more people are aware maybe things can change for the better.[/quote]

Only if the horrible hate subsides, Mem.

Yes the hate needs to subside but when has it really ever or was it just tamed/hidden. I don't think the hate will ever subside or go away I think we are all just going to have to raise above it. Because this is our country and we want the best for everyone.

I personally have not seen this much hate in a very long time. And, I too hope it subsides - and it hard to rise above it when that is just about all we see in the media lately. But, we can pray that it stops - - that's all.

But sometimes this hatred spews fear and it is hard to stay positive - - and as they say, "Fear is the darkroom where negatives are developed."

You are right Puddycat. I never seen anything like this either. It is scary because the last people I can remember who really evoked this kind of emotion out of people well you know what happened................. .

No wrongs have ever been righted by riots and civil disorders. A sniper is only a coward, not a hero; and an uncontrolled, uncontrollable mob is only the voice of madness, not the voice of reason.

I just hope things are going to get better soon.

And we want to be an "example" for other countries not a "reflection".

We do want to be an "example".

Too often we honor swagger and bluster and wielders of force; too often we excuse those who are willing to build their own lives on the shattered dreams of others. Some Americans who preach non-violence abroad fail to practice it here at home. Some who accuse others of inciting riots have by their own conduct invited them.

Quote KC11: Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there already a song out there in which all presidents are addressed.
And it's been around a very long time.
We practiced it in music class back in my grade school years. My children did as well.

Lyrics were written by Albert Gamse and the music is set to James Sanderson's music ...It goes like this....

Hail to the Chief we have chosen for the nation,
Hail to the Chief! We salute him, one and all.
Hail to the Chief, as we pledge cooperation
In proud fulfillment of a great, noble call.
Yours is the aim to make this grand country grander,
This you will do, that's our strong, firm belief.
Hail to the one we selected as commander,
Hail to the President! Hail to the Chief!

Have they stopped using this song in schools?

They've stopped alot of stuff in our schools If that were my kids school Not only would I be homeschooling them right now, but I would sue them for putting my child on teh internet for the whole world to see!!!

This is so true- and that is a good thing- people are paying attention and taking an active role in what is going on in our country today-

I am really sorry that you guys see what is going on today as hate- I don't see it that way at all- I think people are reacting the way they are out of love- love for this great country-I don't hate anyone- I don't hate BO. I hate the job he is doing as our leader- if you are talking about hate in general, there will always be that kind of hate--

If people are reacting the way they are today, since the election of our new president, because of love - love for our country - - then I can do without that kind of love.

Also, I didn't hate Bush, but I sure hated the job he did as our leader.

This has nothing to do with Hate!! This school did this without the parentspermission! How would you feel if one day when you looked on your computer and theres your kid there for the whole world to see and no one asked!! I'd be livid!
I listened to the whole thing and to not call it an indoctrination of those youth is (imo)just plain nuts!! I bet if this was 8 years ago and the kids were singing a different tune in praise of bush, For example and how he had our country fight the terrorists and go after Sadam, and explaining his vision(like how those kids spoke of the Change were supposed to get, equal work = pay etc.). Would that have been okay? Either way if a school is gonna do this the parents should now! My kids go to elementary school and when they learn a class routine on something, there is a special show so the parents who can attend can come It isn't done in secret like this was!
bye the way Mmm Mmm Mmm it sounds like their talking about food!!
