But Andrea Ciemnolonski, the parent of another one of the students in the video, said the song was part of a second-grade project on a variety of topics related to the month of February, such as Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day and Presidents Day.

"They did songs about President Washington, Lincoln, and they did do one about President Obama," Ciemnolonski said. "My daughter was in the class that did the songs about Obama. It was black history month. ... It was something for the kids to celebrate."

Ciemnolonski said she "just can't look at it as indoctrination," though she added, "The comparisons made were a little exuberant."

The article is at the link above. The quote is directly from that article. One of the mom's states that students sang songs about other Presidents as well, typical elementary school stuff. Those didn't make it to youtube, I guess the reason this one did is because it can be used by the extremists in an attempt to prove "indoctrination". Maybe they should spend more time going after the drug dealers in and near our schools that actually do "indoctrinate".

That link doesn't work either???

Who's show was it on- maybe that will help.......

Gommie I had no links because this is not something I googled just to post for contraversy. This is the facts I know and remember. I am trying to find you something but as I said there was not the bombarding protests as there is to Obama so it is not plastered everywhere. I have been trying to find you something on what was not considered a big deal for other presidents. Here is a link about school children all over being shown Reagans funeral in the classroom and then instructed to sing the song "Hero" for him after the funeral.

abcnews.go.com/US/census-worker-found-gagged-bound-nude/story?id=8677271

Then here is a clip with some of the words to a song sang praising President Bush for the wonderful job he did with Katrina. Like I said it is all out there and I remember it, it is just that no one protested or pulled their kids out of school when the shoe was on the other foot. Hope they open for you if not I will try and email it to you.

Quote daisyjo:
These are the lyrics to the songs the children were being taught:
Song 1:
Mm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that all must lend a hand
To make this country strong again
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said we must be fair today
Equal work means equal pay
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that we must take a stand
To make sure everyone gets a chance
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said red, yellow, black or white
All are equal in his sight
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
Yes!
Mmm, mmm, mm
Barack Hussein Obama

Song 2:

Hello, Mr. President we honor you today!
For all your great accomplishments, we all doth say "hooray!"
Hooray, Mr. President! You're number one!
The first black American to lead this great nation!
Hooray, Mr. President we honor your great plans
To make this country's economy number one again!
Hooray Mr. President, we're really proud of you!
And we stand for all Americans under the great Red, White, and Blue!
So continue ---- Mr. President we know you'll do the trick
So here's a hearty hip-hooray ----
Hip, hip hooray!
Hip, hip hooray!
Hip, hip hooray!

I really don't understand the problem.

Got it -Thanks....I was not looking for the kids singing obama praises,I've seen that one -I was looking for the source that said songs were also sang in praise of Bush,Clinton and Reagan-

In my opinion - - the problem is trying, once again, to find another frivolous issue to "pin the tail on the DONKEY" (pun intended) once again - - somehow, some way, this has just GOT to be Obama's fault, eh?

I found the katrina song--I didn't realize the two links were for the same song--anyway--
The Katrina song-

"Our country’s stood beside us
People have sent us aid.
Katrina could not stop us, our hopes will never fade.
Congress, Bush and FEMA
People across our land
Together have come to rebuild us and we join them hand-in-hand! "

In my opinion the message in this song in no way compares to the obama song- in this song the kids are acknowledging, their country, people who sent them aid, they are acknowledging Congress, Bush and FEMA - the obama song they are singing praise to obama- do you really think the two are the same?

Seriously Gommie I don't see a difference. Bush was being praised for something he had not even done yet. They levies where not even fixed at this time. But the point is that not one parent pitched a hissy fit about it. I know many of them disliked Bush yet not a word. They did not go on TV and protest or refused to let the kids participate.

Then the one with Reagan was much worse than the Obama song. Tons of schools had to watch his funeral on tv and sing the song "Hero" dedicated to him. Now that song is a worship someone song if there ever has been one. We didn't hear one single parent mad about that. No parents pitched fits and protested school boards or went on tv. All of those parents did't vote for him but they let this be part of a history lesson to the kids. On the other hand if Obama died right now all hell would break loose should they try and show his funeral in schools. There would be riots in the streets if schools had kids sing that Obama was there hero. jmo but if the song had the words John McCain in it there would not be any controversy at all.

That is not how I remember it wanna- I recall Bush was vilified and to this day is still trying to defend himself-

www.nola.com/news/index.ssf/2009/01/president_bush_defends_governm.html

and there are plenty of news sites vilifying him-

If I had been a parent of school age children that song would not have had the same effect on me as the obama songs
had- I just can't even compare the two- I guess that is what makes me me and you, you-- you are as passionate in your beliefs as I am in mine...

I am still looking for some reference to the children in school watching RR's funeral service/procession and singing the HERO song- I don't remember that happening and I am not saying it didn't - I just don't remember anything about it-- I'll keep looking for it-- if you find it please share it with me---

Well I know for me when I was in school during that time we did not have to watch President Reagan's funeral. I didn't even know there was a song.

I went to school in California too. I think it depended on the teachers or schools if the funeral was shown.

I know that sometimes my teacher would videotape historical events and show it to us the next day. But nothing too serious.

But I do remember in elementary school we had to know the president which was Bill Clinton at the time. We wrote him a letter and that was about it.

If there was any one historical figure we focused on a lot it was probably Martin Luther King Jr. not the president at the time.

When Bush was in office most of my teachers had a not so good view of him. Again it came back to the teachers if they wanted to talk about Politics we listened. One of my teachers even showed us a White House correspondents' Dinner with Stephen Colbert.

I know that some people feel that they do not want the teachers or schools talking about the president to the young children. Because they are very impressionable but for me and my experience it was less about what teachers' political views. More about my parents and what their views were. More than likely when I was younger I would adopt my parents views instead of a teacher or another authority figure.

I don't see anything wrong with the song. It's really sad what is going on right now. Why can't everyone work together because both sides want a better country? I hear that people want this and that and our country is going down the tubes. But all of the drama/outbursts are not helping the situation to get things done. It is just creating more division and dissension and again that is not good.
