DMV - - Perfect Cause For A Heart Attack!

I'm in Florida - - birthday is October 21st. Always got a notice a month or two before my tag needed to be renewed. Didn't get one this year - - Got worried and went online to renew it - - guess they were hoping I would forget about it so they could charge a late fee.

Paid $100.85 for my tag renewal - - isn't that wonderful? I knew it had gone up in Florida, but was totally shocked. Last year it was $65 and two years ago it was $45.

I am on social security, so guess my Medicare is going to have to pay for the heart attack I am about to have!

Same thing with my AAA - - also due now - - it went up about $10.00 - - how wonderful. Have to keep it because my car is old and they ARE good when you are in trouble.

What next?

Just saying - - - -

OMG! DMV in Cali? You're right it's a complete madhouse there. I moved away 4 years ago and could never go back. It should be renamed Calgot"LINES"forya! LOL!!!

Haven't stayed in a line longer than 15 minutes since. Hallelujah!

I did mine online - - like I have for years, but this time they did not send me a notice, so I am being a negative b--ch and saying they probably would hope I forgot and could charge me a late fee.

Stand in line, rather than go online to renew? - - I'd rather lie down at the back of my car and put it in reverse!

LMAO!

Online works if you trust it. I bought baseball tickets on line. When I got to the stadium they said they had no record of it. Of course I forgot my confirmation.

Anyway, the agent was so nice. She looked up my confirmation number using my credit card number somehow (ya know I hate giving my card to strangers)and Wallah! I got my tickets.

Now I got to check my card statement to make sure I didn't get charged twice. LOL!!

I would have felt better paying for my tickets at the ticket window to avoid the stress!

Also Puddycat not sure if your local AAA has this feature, but mine does...I always renew my licience at the local AAA. It saves alot of time as opposed to the DMV. Too late now, but look to it in the future.

Shoot, I live in Calif. - All I do is write a check and send it along with the stub and proof of insurance, which they require every year. No fuss, no muss. Problem is, I can't find my notice I received a month ago, so must go searching! PS, next year, I also have to get a smog check!

I know - I think California is the only state that requires a smog check - sure did help cut down on the vehicle pollution tho - I really don't mind doing my part, but it is a bother!!

Eventually it will be everywhere. Here in NC my town don't have it yet but all the larger towns in this state does. Within a couple years I am sure it will reach to me. Do you guys have to pay tax on your car every year. That is what I hate. You get taxed when you buy it and taxed for it every year you have it. I thought there was not supposed to be double taxation.

I take a diferent approach. I drive to a smaller town where you will find no more than 20 people in the place at a time. It becomes a pleasant experience. Then lunch or shopping in a new venue.
