Quote bigtimesoapfan: I really don't know if I believe it! She is an actress afterall! I mean some of them like any kind of attn. and maybe she needs $$$ as I'm sure these interviews aren't free(or cheap)!! I just feel bad because if it's not true(wich I am leaning towards that) this poor man id s dead and can't even defnd himself. His wife and other members of the family are already disscrediting it. Bigtime I don't know how old you are but if you don't remember her dad you should really do some research and read up on him. His is by far not some poor man. He was a very evil man on so many drugs he didn't know who he was. He was shooting his own daughter up with heroin when she was 12. He admitted getting her hooked on drugs in an interview they did "together" several" years ago.I in no way think she is making anything up. |

Although I believe that this incest relationship took place I think it is irresponsible for her to "go public" with it. |

When she was talking about her relationship with Mick Jagger she seemed to be rather proud of that fact.... She said that she wanted to reach out to others who have had the same thing happen in their lives??? I think she needed to make a buck & has no scruples. I agree that there was really no need to come out and tell it all now. I think that it only hurts her rep and possilbe career. No one will ever hire her for a role again or anything else. She should have just kept it to herself and a GOOD therapist. It is to late to change anything anyway. |

Isn't he dead now? I do believe most of what she has reported- but I am also a firm believer that at some point she needs to take responsibility for the choices she made that put her in those positions- I know there were times when she was clean and sober- I wonder why she didn't take the opportunity of a clear mind to get far-far away from the pervert-- |

Oh well - - if she is clean now, I wish her well. |

I'm reading all these articles, I know the dad was a total dbag loser, but my instinct, as a person totally NOT in the know, is to call BS. She has a book deal currently, she needed to get back into the spotlight, she already spent the advance she got on her book deal, and needs to make sure people will buy her book. She hasn't been able to get an acting gig for some time, so this is her way to catch up a little. What better scapegoat than a dead loser? Her family knows the loser-ness that encompassed this man, and if they are all not completely supporting her, I find it hard to do that myself. If it is true, tho, Lord help her finally heal, b/c this lifestyle is all she knows. |

Im 34 and thanks to all the reality tv and people sharing info that imo is none of our bussiness, I don't believe alot of it. imo she's broke and needs $$ and decided to try and sell some stories. Especially since he died in 2001, she waited all this time? for what? sorry but im not buying!! |

I for one am very proud of Mackenzie Phillips for writing her book and telling the world what happened during her childhood. |

people also have to remember that what happened to her was when she was a child and into her early adulthood, ...and even she said she thought she brought it on herself...thats alot to have to handle...and the drugs made it easier to handle life..although her father started her on the drug path I can imagine she later used as a crutch. Can you even imagine thinking that you were responsible for your own rape/molestation..especially from your own father? She did say at his bedside when he was dying that she forgave him....she also said the forgivness was more for her than him..she had to let it go..I feel sorry for what she went through..... |

Quote PineValley_Breeze_: I for one am very proud of Mackenzie Phillips for writing her book and telling the world what happened during her childhood. I am a survivor of incest and sexual abuse. My sister is also a survivor. I say survivor instead of victim because we have finally moved on with our lives. It takes a special kind of courage to finally talk about it. Many feel guilty and wonder if they caused it to begin with. Keep in mind that back in the 50's 60's and 70's that sexual abuse was a family's *dirty little secret* Polls show that 3 out of 5 girls were being molested and 2 out of 5 boys. It wasn't until the mid 80's that things came to light and people were being arrested for this crime on children. My sister went into therapy when she was in her 40's and the doctor told her to write letters and get rid of the anger of what our father did. Perhaps this is Mackenzie Phillips' letter to her father. Maybe she can now heal and carry on with a normal life. I pray that she is now out of her *purple haze* with the drugs. I completly understand what you are saying because I was also a victim of "sexual child abuse", but not by my parents, but a cousin. When I told my parents, they did not believe me and became very angry, until my sister admitted the same thing had happend to her, years and years later. It took quite a bit of time to heal, but that is all in the past and thank God I had a wonderful "nun" in boarding school who got me through it. I think the only thing that is in question now is why did she wait so long to come up with this? I was watching quite a few of the news comments on her today, and they did say that if she "is" lying, that Oprah will definitely not stand for it. I don't usually watch Oprah but she will be on again tomorrow, with McKenzie and her sister - - should be interesting. But, the thing people are questioning now is "is she clean" and why now is she doing this? Her book is now, I believe, No. 3 on the best selling book list on Amazon - - called "High On Arrival" I hope she is truly being honest and not just looking for more money. As I said before, if this is true, I pray for her recovery from this horrible thing - - if it is not true, I pray for her recovery from the bigger problems she will encounter because of it. |

Hi Puddycat *warm hugs* First of all you have moved on with your life.. You are not a victim any longer. You are a survivor! That is a big step! You have to realize FIRST that it wasn't your fault in order for you to begin to heal. I applaud your courage hon. As you know it is a tough subject to even talk about. Most of us don't talk about it. We bury it in the dark recesses in or memories. I know that what happened to me as child has effected my life as I know it now. I'm not a touchy feely huggy type of person, and for your personal safety do NOT ever touch me when I am asleep! I am now 54 years old and I still have *triggers* that will set me into a frenzy. A smell or a sound or something that someone says. PTSD isn't just for those that fought in a war. I hope that with this book Mackenzie Phillips can finally heal and go on with her life. Be it acting or an advocate against sexual abuse. I pray that she finally finds peace within herself and moves on with her life. DRUG FREE!!! |
