tODAY IS PATRIOT DAY......

2001-America saw its worst day of terroism. Nearly 3000 people died when two hijacked jetliners smashed into New Yorks World Trade Center, causing the twin towers to fall, a commandeered jet plowed into the Pentagon, and a fourth hijacked plane was crashed in a field in western PA.

1857-the Mountain Meadows Massacree took place in present day southern Utah as a 120 member AR immigrant party was slaughtered by Mormon militiamen aided by paiute indians.

1941-groundbreaking took place for the Pentagon outside Washington DC.

1954-the miss america pageant made its network tv debut on ABC, Miss CA, Lee meriwether, was crowned the winner.

1999-Serena Williams won the US open women's title..

2004-Parents and grandparents of those lost on Sept 11 stood at the World Trade Center site and marked its 3rd anniv.

2008-Pres candidates John Mcbain and Barak obama put aside politics as they visited ground zero together on the anniv of 9/11.

I remember waking up and turning on the news....a few minutes into the regular broadcast...the first tower was hit....then the next.....I frantically started calling my friends that live there, and my bestie....that works in time square.....believe it or not ...I got a hold of her....she said she was walking across the bridge....that it was crazy ...and that there were thousands on the bridge with her.....she emailed me pics from her phone....I was thankful that she was alright....but we did lose one friend that was in tower two!....cant believe its been eight years....seems like yesterday

oh raving, that is sad.... it still hits me hard, and i didnt lose anyone, but the Spirit of compassion is there in me, and i feel for the families and friends...of the victims..
