Ellen DeGeneres will be replacing Paula Abdul on American Idol.

I think this is a great thing..Ellen is hilarous! I can just hear her, Ryan & Simon going at it - she's gonna have them all laughing their heads offs...

I wonder how much they're paying her... I am sure it will be a nice chunk of change...

In an article I read off of AmericanIdol.com - She says... "think of all the money I will save by not having to text in my vote..."

What do u guyz think?

Wow! Really? That is very surprising. I love Ellen but I am having a hard time picturing her being on the panel. I loved how Simon was mean to Paula and she was so flaky.

What's going to happen to the dynamic??

I was going to open a thread on this when I heard it on the news, but forgot. So glad you did!

I love the idea - - this is going to be a riot! Maybe she will put Simon in his place!! Although I love Simon, also.

I thought I heard that she was giving up her daily talk show, do you know anything about that, because I loved that show.

I wonder if this is all a big publicity stunt. Not that I mind...I adore Ellen....But she is so in love with Idol, is going to keep her show and she loves to play jokes....

She will still keep her show - she can do both..

I just think between Ryan & Ellen, than toss in Simon - its gonna be hilarous! They just need to keep an eye on the time b/c I think having 4 judges is a bit much - 3 works best - now 4 judges for auditions is fine, having a guest judge every week - but for the panel itself, having a 4th judge always seemed to cut into the time...

They could always get rid of Kara DioGuardi - - sorry, never thought she added much to the show.

I actually see it working out alot better - altho I do agree with u - loved the dynamic of her & Simon going at it & I loved watching her jump up & dance..shes so adorable - but IF what I read is accurate - she wasnt happy with what they were paying her..

IMHO - they get paid a sick amount of money - however, I believe it came down to.. who is getting what, which was more than she was getting..... kinda a touchy topic..but I think its a shame she didnt stick around....

I wish her all the best in whatever she decides to do instead of Idol...

I really thought this would have been posted already..

I like Simon too..love him actually, he cracks me up with his little sayings.. And love, love LOVE when Ryan puts him in his place..

And I havent heard about her daytime show - I highly doubt she's giving that up - I can bank on that..
