I saw a segment on Fox news and found it very informative. And then last night while watching a Family Guy video w/ the family(someone on it mentioned Anne Frank) my son asked who's that (he's 13)? I said you haven't learned about her yet? I asked him if they talked about the Holocaust and he said again What's that? So off went the TV and my husband informed him on a sad fact in history that his 8th grade education has so far failed to teach him!! |

I will not be suprised if thats what I soon resort too!! you might what to see if your state has the connections academy program. a lot of states carry this program. it is an virtual public school. it is ran by the state. you can get into this program free . they supply all the books. they set the lessons . it is all done on the internet. they do have to send in some work to their teacher. the only down fall i had with this program . it that they require that the studnets take the state tests. but since we are in such a rural area we had to travel a 3 hour round trip for 3 days for testing . that sucked! anyone can homeschool... i am relearning alot of stuff as i teach my boys... math is not my strongest subject, but with help from the answer key. i have not had any problems... |

I didn't know who Anne Frank was until the original movie came out in the early sixties. My schooling consisted of reading, writing, aritmetic, history, Social Studies, Biology, typing/shorthand, home Ec, English/Lit/Spanish. I think despite the fact I didn't know who Anne Frank was until I graduated High School, doesn't mean I didn't get a good education...probably just as good. We sat in long rows, heads down, study, study, study, no gum chewing, no back talk, no cross talk, no note passing (so we made up hand signals). About all we heard from our kids was the classroom was so noisy, they couldn't even hear the lesson half the time. No, school is fine - discipline stinks! |

In FL Jeb gave us the FCAT to see how our teachers and students are doing. Now all they do is teach for this damned test, Education is not rounded, they only want to pass this test so the schools get money and the teachers can keep their jobs. If it ain't on the test, they don't learn it. |
