If only we could keep them innocent and sheltered from the bigotry and cruelty of this world..but I realize we can't. It saddens me to see the country that they are growing up in. So much hatred. I truly don't understand hatred. I just don't understand how someone can simply hate someone for one reason or another. I understand having different views on relgion; different views on politics; different views on raising kids etc. But to hate - is just beyond me. I continue to stay prayerful and pray over my kids daily. What a beautiful and inspiring post, Prosperity It is horrible to see all the hate. And one thing that very few people EVER bring up is that our President is not just AA, but is bi-racial. Some of the racial haters seem to forget that. Hope I don't get smashed for saying this, but why is this so often forgotten? LOL!! Sorry Puddy. We do tend to forget that he is bi-racial. My bad

But when I post something about the administration on facebook (where I have alot of "friends" only because I play stupid games) about getting our country back and not understanding that comment and several people write back (who I do not know) saying that it is because no one wants a black president telling them what to do...it is telling of the temperature of society. It is so easy for "us white people" to call african american's "uncle tom" just to make a point. We don't understand each other. We don't try to understand each other. My bad I was not referring to you and I love your posts - - I was referring to every American that just pushes this aside. I get soooooooo tired of them calling him our first Black president - - and so many "racist" people that just don't want an AA president, as I have seen in so many remarks, not referring to this board. It just blows my mind when I see and hear WHITE people making references to him being BLACK (and I reemphasize - - not on this particular board/site) and I want to just scream - - "Listen you WHITE person - - he is half WHITE -- get a clue. Sorry - - time for me to just get out of this thread.  Edit: And as you can see - - from posts that have come in before this one - - it is just going to go on all night with a poster not giving up or agreeing to disagree. |

Yes, he is biracial. But, good or bad, bi means nothing except in sexuality. Native Americans have been practiacally exterminated in this country. If one's skin color is anything less than lilly white, they are black, asian,middle eastern, whatever fits the color. So yes he is biracial, but to the typical American...he is black. And really, I don't think it is a bad thing. First person who isn't a sacrifice to the sun god being president...awesome. |

I just watched Pres Obama's speech to the schoolkids on youtube and must say can't see how anyone can consider it controversial.There was no political content in it and it was a good speech encouraging children to believe in themselves and achieve through education not pipe dreams of instant stardom. |
