check that out..This was the one I read about - what a sicko. how can someone like this be a rev. More people should think of how Martin Luther King led his life. Now that is a true hero. It is sad for me to see this sort of thing as a Christian b/c this is NOT Christian behavior.

this is soo twisted.........this guy has some serious mental problems in my opinion.....no matter how much I might hate or despise someone, I would never ever utter a prayer like that! disgusting!

of course not..This is not Christianity in any form or what it promotes. He only looks bad to God for doing such a thing.

This is obviously a very sick and dangerous individual, but I think there are also people in positions as his who are just as sick Like, Randall Terry, I believe that is his name, the leader of Ooperation Rescue, a very deranged man in charge of a lethal, sick and dangerous group.
I also believe it is not just the people who head these organizations or churchs, but those who claim to believe in a just and loving god.
Myself, I believe more in science and coincidence then a god, but I have to wonder about people who claim to understand the peaceful message of god, but are so full of rage, jealousy, ignorance, and judgement....a good many of them IMHO!

speaking of church and state.....I find all the hubub about "one nation under god" in the pledge to silly. I never knew that that phrase was added after the pledge was written. Since that is the case, take it out. It isn't true to the pledge itself.

Secondly, in reference to god I think the philosopher Kant was right in his persuit of rightousness when he said that imagine if everyone took that one course of action and picture what the world would be like. For example, if everyone stole, then it would be mayhem. If everyone lied, no one would know truth. Therefore, it is more of a moral code than one of god. He further stated that God does not will people to be happy, he wills people to make themselves happy. So what this tells me as an agnostic, is that all these people running around talking about "it is gods will" is taking a cop out. Gods will is you (generic) taking care of you and others.

Plot couldn't respond to you because you were bad posted, silly...why not just post your opinion instead of childishly bad posting something you personally do not like, but is in no way against guidelines! That is what the bad post button is FOR..if something is against GUIDELINES!!
Anyway, loved what you said, and Kant has always been one of my favorite philosophers...and Hegel.
Do you know the quote..."...the owl of Minerva flies only after dusk." ?

oh plot!...you have a bad post farei too!.......ok not going to comment on the pledge thing.....but I do feel you are right about the rest. My mom always taught us ( and she was a sunday school teacher) that everyone has their own God in their own heart.....meaning basically your own conscience....or like Pinocchio called his jimmy cricket. so I totally agree with the moral code angle, its suppose to be about integrity, values , morals, and knowing right from wrong. and acting accordingly. we create our fate and destines, that's just the way it is. its fine if you want to believe you don't, but don't go wishing people dead either, because that is a sure lack of integrity , values and morals!

How can it be that the proclaimed reverends such as this one have not ran across the "Thou shalt no kill" thing during their studies? Makes you wonder don't it? Scary stuff!!!

Oh Freida....Of course I know about the owl of Minerva!

But really? Why bad post me? What did I do that was against guidelines? What? Someone doesn't like my viewpoint on the pledge? Fine, according to Hegel the only way true understanding can be reached is for each person to state a thesis and then argue that thesis until middle ground is reached. I may believe what I have said, but if people dialouge as opposed to bad posting and hiding, perhaps minds could be altered or a new understanding reached.

Further...It is not like I was bashing God! GMAB If there is a God, do you really think he finds cowardice a divine trait?

technically speaking, the Pledge of Allegiance does not really honor the right of freedom of religion. I don't have a problem with it myself, but I could see how others could. Religion is a choice..It should not be shoved down someone's throat.

and Plot you are right...not many people understand there is "free will" and that we are in charge of ourselves. I hate it when I hear someone say it was God's Will when someone gets cancer or falls on some sort of hardship. I do not believe God purposely does this b/c that would not be a good portrayal of a peaceful being. I think things happen..they can happen to anyone and how a person handles it says alot about their character. I do believe there is power in prayer. But I also believe that sometimes the answer is no. Why? can't answer that even for myself. But I believe in free will and how we choose to exercise that free will says alot about ourselves. I do not believe religion and politics mix either.
