I'm so sorry over the loss of your pet mules and the loss of everyone else who have posted and have loss their beloved animals.
The hospice where I volunteer for had at one time, and probably still does a support group for anyone who has lost a pet. Lots of times it helps to have someone else to talk to who has been thru the same thing. That's why this thread is so great. It's full of caring people who understand the pain of others.
thank you.

I have a photo album brimming with photos of my cats past and present. Every christmas I get pictures of them all, and also every summer. My son took photos of all 18 cats with his digital camera and I have a slideshow of them set to pretty music. I have had cats my whole life and lost several. It is worth the eventual pain I must suffer to give these beautiful cats a safe and loving home. This will help me, knowing how much I cared for them. Animals are worth the sacrifices, they are your best friends. Great thread by the way.

When my dog passed away a friend gave me this poem. It helped me - I hope it helps anyone else who has lost a pet. It is such an empty feeling but the thought of seeing them again someday helps a bit.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Ahhhhh - dcorn - - I didn't see the post about your mules. Somehow this thread got lost, and we all know why - - it's hard to read.

What a beautiful story about your mules - - God love you!

ah dcorn- I am sorry about your loss of mabel and now sugar-

thank you .it is hard , but i was lucky girl to have those mules in my life growing up. many children wish for a pony ,or a horse growing up never get one. i had that chance. they were my best friends.

I know they had to be- you were so lucky to have each other-I have a mental picture of you riding them- how very darn sweet it must have been-

I hate this thread

Ahhh wanna, you're so cute.

I used to go on a board for cats all the time. Since I have so many (had) that I rescued and everyone knew me, each time I would lose one (they are all getting old) I would post it, but then everyone would write and talk about how they felt about losing their babies. It got so bad, I stopped posting. Hurts too much.

I lost an 18 year old (Kiwi) a month ago, and now my 17 year old (Randy, who actually turned 17 yesterday) is failing.....he went deaf about two weeks ago) but still hanging, no pain, just old age, but needs to be near me constantly. With my experience with older cats, they start getting closer to you when they know they don't have much time left - - I have experienced it for years. Even a feral that I had did that, it is sad, but it is beautiful.

Oh, I need to shut up!

The pull-out that comes with the Sunday paper yesterday had a phone number to call if you loose a pet. It's the ASPCA Pet Loss Support Hotline. 877-474-3310.
I didn't know this and hope it helps others.

Well my friends, I have some very sad news. My mother and step father have had Kye for 14 years. He is the best dog (and I have a dog..if that tells you how good he is). They found out today that he has a brain tumor and has to be put down today. The vet said that his condition would worsen over the next few days and he will be in extreme pain. He couldn't walk this morning, so my step-father rushed him to the vet and this is the news he received. I am heartbroken. Kye has been in my life since I was 16 years old. He is a loyal and faithful companion. He will be missed. I am in tears typing this..it came out of the blue. Please say a prayer for my family as we will be mourning our beloved family dog. God bless!

Oh LUMI, it is hard for me to even type this to say how sorry I am. I will (and have already) said a prayer for you and your family. I have been through this so many times, and it never stops hurting. Take care, dear.
