It's a year this month since we said goodbye to little Lamar and sent him on his way to the bridge- it doesn't seem possible that it has been a year- not a day goes by that we don't think of him and wish he were back here with us-he was our little man,he was such a little character, he was so happy and brought so much joy to our lives-whenever we have lost a pet it has been years before we could get another-we always felt like we were betraying them to even consider such a move- we adopted Wagner 5 months after Lamar left us-it has been the most healing thing we could have done- every day I have been amazed by this.

The concern and grief we have all felt over the loss of our beloved says volumes about our ability to love and accept another creature to become a part of our lives and family. We were not only lucky to have them, but they were lucky to have us too!

Quote val15: I went way back to find this -- was looking for something else. I'm glad I found it. It made me think of my beloved Gracie. It's been a year now since she died and while it still hurts as though it happened yesterday, I can now laugh about the funny things she did. There will never be another dog quite as special and precious as she was, but reading this makes me realize I'm not alone and grieving does get easier. Thank you.

thank you for finding it, i now have met more animal lovers

I'm so sorry over the loss of your pet mules and the loss of everyone else who have posted and have loss their beloved animals.
The hospice where I volunteer for had at one time, and probably still does a support group for anyone who has lost a pet. Lots of times it helps to have someone else to talk to who has been thru the same thing. That's why this thread is so great. It's full of caring people who understand the pain of others.
