i just read this and stories like this make me sick. no i would never have the desire for an 8 foot python as a "pet" either and most certainly never ever around my child. i may respect another's choice for a pet (as long as it's permitted - this guy did not have a permit for it either) but this case is flat out bad judgment. i am absolutely devastated for this poor little girl. |

I wouldn't wish this on anyone!! It is beyond sad!! I feel bad for the parents even though they are in the wrong on many levels They are paying the ultimate price for their stupidity(it was their kid right?) It is so sad! poor child!! The guilt they must be feeling right now! My thoughts and prayers go out to them! |

But what is wrong with this picture NOT one but TWO snakes in a house with THREE children. How many of ya'll remember the story about 6-7 years ago where the pregnant woman got squeezed by the "pet" python and her husband had to save her? The husband defended his "pet" and sais she'd never done anything like that before and it must have been because his wife was giving off a"scent" because she was pregnant. Can ya'll even believe that?????????????????????????????????????????????????? |

The python escaped & strangled the 2 yr. old. I don't understand the desire to have snakes as pets, & these people didn't have the permit required to own this snake anyway, but even if I wanted a snake as my pet, I think I would resist that urge w/young children in the house. This is so sad. I heard it on the news last night & just wanted to cry sitting there on the couch  This is no different then having a gun in a home with a 2 year old. Guns are legal...so is having a pet python. It is peoples constitutional right to be irresponsible and cause the deaths of children. |

Sad part is the parents will have to live with the guilt of their decision to own a pet snake! My heart really does go out to them, but honestly what in God's name were they thinking? Im trying not to judge but I'll just say that I've got 3 kids and it'd be a cold day in Hell before I let anyone bring a snake or any other type of wild animal into my home! I'll stick with the 3 cats and 2 pugs Ive got!! |
