Quote lovesit: I remember where Bush gave a speech where he finally admitted the intelligence he receieved about Iraq was wrong. At least he admitted his biggest mistake, not that it could change anything at that point. yeah i remember reading about that too. he also mentioned at one point that he felt it was his legacy to "free" iraq. to ensure they were a democracy. the problem with that is that we are needed over there to ensure iran doesn't invade iraq while they are vulnerable. who knows how long that will take. so that kept us over there. and i do know saddamm was evil, trust me. glad he's gone. i just feel bush had prior knowledge of NK and failed to act. not as in invading but using other tactics to avoid what is going on now. but what is done is done. and now iran is a mess. (i don't blame anyone but iran for that) - as sad as it is, they are a lesser priority to me tho. NK flat out worries me..a crazy leader + WMD + huge army & secret compound = a world that needs to worry. |

I don't think our actions - past or present - are at all to blame for anything North Korea does. We could take a kitten like position toward them & it wouldn't change their behavior. I think the North Korean leadership would seek nukes regardless. North Korea may think we're 'after them' so they need nukes - but it's circular logic b/c we're 'after them' because they want nukes & have stated their intent to use them. I think they hate us b/c we're free & we stand for freedom & democracy - & b/c we've had our troops in South Korea for over fifty years now. |

I do think Bush was right to call them evil...they are evil & did not recently decide to become evil b/c George W. called them evil. Reagan once called the Soviet Union evil & he was criticized for it - but he was right to say it. Granted, Reagan did more about the Soviet Union than Bush did about North Korea, but Bush's mistake wasn't using the word evil. |

Granted, Reagan did more about the Soviet Union than Bush did about North Korea, but Bush's mistake wasn't using the word evil. And, I like Reagan a whole lot more than Bush anyway. A whole lot more. that is your opinion and i have mine. i think bush not only saw this forthcoming but failed to react. it was never in question if they would or would not seek nukes. i think for a president out for rogue leaders, he really failed his nation on this. yet again. what else is new. i never said that they acquired nukes b/c we are after them - they would have done that anyway but they are using the fact that they have them b/c of how they perceive us.. they are not threatening france, england or anyone else. (yet they are a threat to the world anyway)- i do think they percieved our behavior with iraq as hostile and since they are included in that axis of evil, they want to show they will not be so easy for us to try anything with. yes they are evil..but by our past behavior combined with the things we said, we only sparked more paranoia with this crazy leader. i think north korea would have pursued nukes regardless but their recent eractic behavior is due to wanting to show their own dominance b/c they're nuts. i personally feel bush's decisions and lack of movement toward them (for 8 years) contributed heavily to all of this. my thoughts on that will not change. it is not bush's fault that NK's leader is crazy but he was a let down when it comes to all of this. i have always thought reagan was the best from the rep side and have much respect for him. i have never denied that. |

in my opinion, it doesn't matter who did what, what matters is we all stand together as americans, i would like to know, could we take them down with air strikes if they do in fact invade any of our states? |

Quote cats meow: in my opinion, it doesn't matter who did what, what matters is we all stand together as americans, i would like to know, could we take them down with air strikes if they do in fact invade any of our states? editing to say... we had my MIL over for the weekend, she said she was glad her husband and my parents were not here to see this it is a sad situation cats and yes, it no longer matters who started what - i just have my opinions on it is all. that will never change. i really don't think they are going to invade. i just worry over their threats combined with practice missile launches. (and the fact they are well armed) - but if there was a war, we really need the backing of the united nations for this. that is why it's crucial we don't ever do anything to break our bond. as for war...i don't even want to think it will come to that but air strikes would be have to be heavily utilized. i would imagine..but again, i don't even want to think it will come that. i pray not. |

Let us put this into really simplistic terms. |

Quote Plot-Twister: Let us put this into really simplistic terms. Let's say there is a group of students who continually get picked on and start hanging out together. They form this bond. Everyone else at school picks on them, slams them into lockers and and makes fun of them. One of them begins a cycle of depression and starts thinking about suicide. Now these friends are a little off the beaten path. But then there is a pep assembly and they are pointed out and named as the useless nerds of the school. So, they decide to show how useless they are and kill a bunch of people in the school in addition to taking their own lives. Who is NK in that scenario? if they hit us, what do you think we should do? |

I don't really watch the news anymore because I just get irritated and anxious and fall into a "the world is going to end" type of mood. But I do believe that if we treated people from ALL nations with a bit more respect, even if we don't agree with their politics, culture, whatever, we wouldn't be in this situation. But, as was said, what is done is done. If they nuke us, we nuke them. Then no one is left to nuke. |

NK is so crazy, they would be willing to risk themselves b/c they see "us" as the bully and we have behaved like one in the past. that is why you don't see them threatening england, france, etc. there are lots of other powerful countries out there but they fixated on us. gee i wonder why. |

I don't see how any of our past cabinets hold any majority blame, or really any tangible blame at all. For that argument, you would have to say the new administration is at fault, too. After all, we have had this new cabinet for almost 6 months, and now we have the first real threat from them since the Korean war. I think the blame lies solely on N. Korea's insanity. |

Just thought since every one else was saying why they thought we are where we are I would join in. Of course, blame doesn't matter anyways. What matters is what we're going to do about it. Big talk and no action like always with them? And hope to live another day? Or do we now have good intelligence that will help us do what we need to do? I hope time doesn't tell us the former. well nothing will change my mind on my viewpoint. i blame bush + the insanity of north korea combined but i'm tired of talking about why (i have mentioned it enough at this point) - where we go from here is the big question. i can say i really hope this is taken very seriously by our new president. hopefully he is in discussion with the UN over it. it may not be advertised for a reason. |

Ohh this just cracks me up...Obama has no plans and "it's for a reason" if it were Bush...people would be screaming from the rafters "WHY WON'T HE DO SOMETHING!" |
