What the heck is Twitter?

I admit, I'm pretty ignorant about alot of this stuff. Only got on Facebook recently after I found out what it was. Does Twitter have something to do with Text-messaging? I don't do that either. |

I don't do that either. Twitter is yet another social networking system where people are able to communicate. One follows people by signing up to follow say for example(the 3 ladies on th VIEW, not Whoopie) and everyone has their own twitter "name". When you send a "tweet" it is like an IM but it is not more than 140 characters. Some people think it's great! Some could care less! Some think it is ego-driven. It is another way for stars, bands, and pseudo-celebrities to garner a following. My little neice follows bands on TWITTER. Some people have found out that it can also be dangerous. People that "tweet" they are out of town for example on vacations have come home to find their houses robbed. Twitter has also been one of the most prevelant ways for the people of IRAN to get their message out, as has been the cell-phone and internet. Hope that helps a little. |

Thanks - I don't think it is anything I would want to spend any time doing. I spend too much time goofing around as it is, LOL!!! |
