Quote rei1: well I watched "sicko" with Michael Moore and thought well hell who wouldn't want that kind of healthcare...and then I really thought shoot if it's really that great why are people coming to the USA for benefits?

I came across this site PJTV and while there is some humor in the video .... there is also alot of truth. Well I guess that really depends on what truth anyone wants to believe.

Look for the video: PJTV Undercover: Steven Crowder Investigates CanadaCare...Will ObamaCare Be Any Better?|

I saw Steven Crowder on Hannity tonight and watched the video...that isn't the kind of Healthcare that I want!!! I have e-mailed and called all of my Congressmen and Senators and even some that are not in my state to oppose Socialized Healthcare. I am a nurse and this is only going to cost us more and get less. I do not want to pay for healthcare out of my hard earned paycheck for the "NON-PRODUCERS & ILLEGAL ALIENS" in the United States.

I started reading this and couldn't stop. I also DON"T want socialized medicine.

I have been to Canada where my sister had to wait to have a kidney operation until the government okayed it. I have been to Australia while working on a cruise ship and had my teeth ruined by an Australian dentist. My friend who lives in Sydney was on dialysis for many years before she could get a kidney transplant.

Also have friends in Norway that told me years ago that the government pays for unwed mother's pregnancies and for childcare all the way to 18. Their taxes are through the roof. (Not sure how true this is anymore.)

I am a divorced, single mom, making less than most. I have diabetes, high blood pressure and other health issues like many people. I do without many "luxuries" to pay for health insurance. We are talking about "needs" NOT "wants". I do without because the insurance is more important. I DO NOT want to pay more taxes to help the government give to illegal immigrants, those that are fully capable of work but who chose not to, or anyone else out there who thinks the government owes them a living! I DO NOT want to pay for abortions, cosmetic surgeries, erectile disfunction meds, or another octomom! The misuse and abuse of medications are rampant in this country. Most people could stop taking 1/2 their medications and most likely be healthier within a year.

The government (politicians) have great insurance......believe me, they will NOT make sure that we have the same plan that they have. Our government can do nothing but put us more in debt than we were a year ago. They can't live within their budget now, haven't for a long time. What makes anyone think that they can give us any type of healthcare without screwing it up more? I would rather they stayed out of our lives as much as possible. Very soon we will be paying 45% of our wages in taxes, if we aren't already. Just think what we would have if the government stopped taxing us! Look what they have done to social security!

Yes, I'm a Christian (no, I'm not afraid) and more people have been helped and fed by churches than by any other organizations. Our church has a food pantry and anyone can come in and get food. The whole community of churches in our area contributes. They will help with bills, meds, finding employment, help find a place to stay, even legal help! Right next to the food pantry is a building with clothes for children of all ages. NOT just used clothes, brand new ones. They do NOT charge a penny for the clothes.

My point is that there is help out there....without strings attached. Unlike the government.

Bottom line. I DON"T want the government controlling everything in my life. They can't even take care of the national debt. I live within my budget.....why can't the government be held to the same standards as most of the people?

I do believe there are Canadian posters here and really I was wondering what the truth really is. If anyone would care to share any health related experiences good or bad.

I'm not certain if what Obama is pushing for will be the exact same as what Canada has, but it's the only thing that we can go by since we never had a Socialist Universal Healthcare system.

And Obama is pushing way too hard to get it passed before the August recess...what is his hurry. It appears to be yet another bill passed that people can't even get a chance to read or even comprehend completely.

I am all for charity and give huge credit to those that are fortunate enough to be able to give substantially.

Taxing people without their permission is certainly not charity. It's theft IMO.

What is really troublesome is that Obama is in such a damn hurry to get this passed, makes you wonder what earmarks are hidden in this bill. What is the real agenda?

And Peppermint patty you are so right. The politicians would not ever get the same healthcare that they are pushing us the citizens to receive. Hell they don't even pay into social security...they have their own private insurance that they recieve 100% back of what they put in. Why do they think it's OK for them to get perks and not us?

I am so sick and tired of politicians telling outright lies, and act as if they are representing us, when all they (Dem/Rep) are doing is further securing their own aganda and lining their own pockets.

I have said it before and I'll say it again....TERM LIMITS for ALL politicians and FORCE them into recieving the same benefits they expect us to have. And require them to pay into Social Security and receive about a fraction back if there will be any left, like the rest of us who pay into it get!

ENOUGH OF THE DOUBLE STANDARDS!!

Put it to a vote for all AMERICANS like the elections. See what the people really want....especially without any earmarks placed stragetically to get the YES vote. It should be 1 question that requires a YES/NO answer period!

ITA.....I don't think that politicians should be able to vote on anything for the general population that they are not going to be subjected to also.

Term limits should be required for all politicians. Some of them are past the point of being able to make sound decisions for our country. How many ordinary citizens are able to keep their job and benefits after the age of 70 or 80? Especially when many of these same politicians can't even make it to work every day (or couldn't if left to their own devices!)They have no idea what the average citizen has to deal with every day. They DON'T live a "real" life.

i am a bit confused???? i was under the impression we will be able to keep private insurances, and of course they never deny anything, what about the 17 yr old that died before she got a kidney transplant??? that was here, in the USA and her parent's insurance denied it, it was finally approved when allot of important people got involved, the day the parents finally got the ok, was the day that girl died

and i have been denied certain arthritis meds because i wasn't old enough at 49, of course i am now approaching 60 when i will finally qualify for the drugs

I have a form of government health care! It's called TRICARE! I will tell you that I pay for exactly what I get! It took me 5 mos. to get simple knee surgery I needed at least 4 1/2 months earlier, in order to walk! It took 3 1/2 to get the healthcare provider to recognize that I needed crutches, and I had been using two canes to walk with! Because of this, I now have major back problems! Hey, I get what I paid for!

OK, here's where you will laugh! I go in to complain about my backpain that I have had only since I had the knee problem and it's attributed to either diabetes, which I don't have, high cholesterol, which I don't have, or the simple, everyday excuse that I'm overweight and I need to lose some pounds! Oh, and the doc couldn't believe that my cholesterol level was normal, because of course, you know, I'm overweight, and fat people always have bad cholesterol! What he did talk about instead of ways to reduce my back pain, was invasive weight loss surgery! Yeah!

But this is what some people are willing to take through this plan President Obama is trying so hard to get passed! It's going to be expensive too! Wooh! We pay about 30% in income taxes and other types of taxes! There aren't that many rich people in the country who don't have those off-shore accounts to stash money in! Someone's going to pay in the end, through the end! Do you want it to be 50% of your yearly income?

The insurance will be accepted only at those healthcare places willing to accept it, and that's limited!

I actually found myself reading the blogs about her's.
IMO, she's not making an accurate comparison. Canadian healthcare might not be so bad, but they have a totally different set of people to pay for than we do, and they go about it differently (our tax system is the most complex).

Here, we have a massive population taking from the system (mainly illegals, tax frauders, etc) without putting anything in it. Canada does not have the illegal problem that we do. If we cracked down on that part, like Canada does, I have read in many places where that would free up about $60 million (depending on your source, it is from $40-100+ million). Once that part was minimized, then we could also crack down on the tax fraud, meaning actually punish them instead of inviting them to work for the gov!
Our country just has too many anomalies for us to have a sustainable system like that. We would have to change everything else completely first, or we would go broke in 2 minutes. We have to fix what we have first, b/c its definately broken.

ok all opinions aside....LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i forgot about that and true. everything is a mess. i have long said i wished for a government plan to bridge the gap between medicaid and private health insurance long ago. i hate to hear of anyone not having medical care or families succumbing to bankruptcy due to a sick child - breaks my heart. i just wish this would have been addressed long ago - our country is insanely broke.
